The concierge at our hotel (the Tiara Park Atlantic Lisboa) recommended this restaurant in the Barrio Alto for a special dinner with colleagues. It was a perfect recommendation.
We were a bit concerned at first by the entryway (which is lit with magenta neon and displays fish) but we needn’t have worried. The decor, architecture, and atmosphere of the restaurant was restful and interesting. The walls look like the original stone whitewashed over except for the arches.
We were there very early (by European standards) but the waiter was extremely welcoming, and very interested in making sure we understood everything and had a satisfying experience. We started with the bread, cheese, and olives (this comes out as if it is complimentary, but it’s not. You don’t have to eat it, but if you do, you do have to pay for it. However, it’s worth it. The cheese was gone in almost no time at all.)
The waiter was helpful in making menu recommendations, and the food and wine was excellent. A wide range of traditional Portuguese dishes, and some more familiar ones, and a reasonable range of vegetarian and non-seafood options.
Throughout, the waitstaff was friendly, helpful, and eager to please. An excellent restaurant experience, which I would not hesitate to recommend. My husband liked it so much, he was all for coming back for dinner the next day!
