“Excellent local food and wine”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

I am so happy we reserved in advance. The evening was just what we wanted. Even though we were jet lagged and wobbly, we thoroughly enjoyed our wonderful meal. We chose to share several appetizers, one main course, and dessert, and asked our waiter to choose a wine with each course. He did an excellent job, and we tatsted not only local wines, but wines not generally exported- a real treat. It was totally delicious- and totally fun! We were surrounded by locals and a variety of tourists of many languages.
Note: we walked there from our hotel. From the main avenue, you turn toward the Bairro Alto and an amazing uphill climb, daunting to a billy goat. No problem! Take the little tram uphill (your fare gives you a round trip!). Then follow your google map, if you made one. Skip the taxi and walk back, taking the tram back down the hill. The neighborhood is well lit and alive with energy. (Disney would be jealous.) Then you can walk or take a cab if need be.

“Not a good value”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

This restaurant has the trappings of a fine restaurant, which builds expectations for a spectacular meal. However, I was disappointed. The food was good but not excellent, and frankly it is even hard for me to remember what I had because it was so pedestrian. Moreover, the waiters were haughty. Maybe it was because they were tired of dealing with the tourists, who comprised most of the diners. Finally, it was very expensive compared to other better restaurants where we dined in Portugal. Go there if you want to be in a beautiful space but not if you want a good value meal.

“A wonderful dinner in the Bairro Alto area of Lisbon”
Reviewed May 12, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had dinner here the last night of our stay in Lisbon. It came recommended by our hotel and we had a wonderful evening. The restaurant is tucked away in the narrow streets of Bairro Alto and the minute we walked in we had a great feeling. The restaurant is small and intimate and has a wonderful ambience in an old building .. the architecture and how they have transformed this into a restaurant leaves an immediate first impression. Everyone in the restaurant couldn't have been nicer .. Making recommendations both on and off the menu which were excellent selections. Our waiter was also the sommelier and he was fantastic at both food recommendations and wine recommendations. I was surprised to read some of the other comments about the staff as I had a much different experience. Lastly the food was excellent.. The appetizers and the main course. We really loved everything about this place. It was a wonderful place to spend our final evening in Portugal leaving us with an awesome memory of Lisbon. We would highly recommend it.
