“It's more than a hostel.....”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

I stayed here for 3 nights. Accessed from Rua August's...ring bell and walk up to first floor reception area. Very central and close to all public transport....trams, buses and metro. I stayed in a single (double bed) on the top floor....5 floors! There are three rooms up there and you share a shower room and toilet. Also own sitting area with tv and dvd, and has a fully equipped kitchen although I didn't use it. Very clean. Quiet room as I was at the back. The communal areas on first floor are very welcoming and a very sociable area. Only issue is the hike up to the top floor.....but this is Lisbon and majority of the traditional buildings area comprise several floors and don't have lifts. Bean bags, sofa's too comfy, free Internet, tv, help yourself to drinks (pay when you check out), can leave bags once checked out, good breakfast.....cereals, egg, bacon, toast, hot drinks available all day. Staff were really nice, chatty, helpful, very welcoming. Total mix of guests, very sociable. They arrange nights out, various events, day trips etc etc but you don't feel like you have to join in if it's not your thing. Definitely recommend getting lost in Lisbon....you just don't know what you may find. Great city....great Travellers House.....definitely more than your typical hostel....

Room Tip: 'single' room on top floor at back was quiet, comfortable bed, a heater, bed side table but...

We stayed here over the Easter Long weekend for 4 nights and had a great time.
The Hostel is beyond clean, possibly the cleanest one I've ever stayed in. The breakfast was great, and the public area is great for lounging and socializing. Pretty much every staff member new everything there was to know about the city, bar one. The location is perfect. 5mins walk to Baixa/Chaida station, walking distance from the Old Town, and the Bairro Alto (nightclub) district, the bus station to the airport and Tram to Belem. They also organise walking tours and dinners with all the guest. We joined in on the night out in Bairro Alto and had great fun exploring little bars.

The only downfall was the lack of sleep. Their pillows are tiny, flat, and your head sinks all the way to the bottom-so we asked for 2 which made it a bit better. But whats worse is the walls are pretty much made from paper. You can hear everything. We didn't even need even need to create our own entertainment, the American girls next door supplied enough gossip, conversations and music for our entire stay, and when they left, the cleaners took over.

Room Tip: Clean, Fun and Great Staff but hopefully you don't want to sleep.

I'm an hostel squatting girl....I travelled accross Hostesl in 3 continent. But probably since now the best place were I slept. Amazing staff, that waiting for us. Our room (me and my friends rent a twin) with shared bathroom, was cleaning and warming, with an amazing wiev of rua augusta. Jota welcoming us and show all hostel facilities and activities. We endorse an amazing night walk with a bar tour and listened Fado. Breakfast was amazing (probably need more marmelade choose) with all that u can eat in crepes and bacon and eggs. Common space are big and confortable. Thanks to Jorgen for the tips about lisbon and Belem (famous sweet of belem). Internet good, clean bathroom (problably need some tent) to separing bathroom aera from shower. And a lot of activities and friendness staff... To coming back asap

Perfect hostel to match the vibe of this cool city, walking distance of all the sights, bit of a walk from the main strip of bars but every walk home is made shorter with a few beers!!!dorms were good, staff were friendly and helpful and met some cool people also...one fault the American kid in the braces who brought us to the airport can't drive manual and his stories were a little too cool for school trying too hard mate...overall top marks for everything else...would certainly come back

I am a student from the United States currently studying abroad and was lucky enough to get to stay at Traveller's House for three nights over one of our ten day breaks. It was honestly the best hostel I have stayed in during my entire time in Europe!

The location and decor alone are perfect. It truly felt like a homey bed and breakfast. The beds were comfy and a lot roomier than most and they had sweet ladies to cook hot breakfast in the morning for you included in the price! I really think they had everything that is a must in looking for a hostel. Free wifi everywhere, chill out area, clean rooms, comfortable beds, luggage storage, mini fridge for drinks, and friendly local staff.

Another plus was that they have Segways for 25 Euros a day including driving lessons! I would highly recommend this! We got to see twice the amount of things in one day not to mention it was super fun and beautiful! The staff took the time to sit down with us and map out a trip to see the coast as well as beautiful sites to see while on our Segways. They also gave us a list of "local" food places that were amazing! I had the most wonderful time with them and I hope to go back someday soon!

One little cute and confortable hostel! Everybody there is nice and talk to you all the time. The kitchen is complete and you can use everything, and the breakfast was great. There's some stairs to the bedrooms, but that was not a problem. The internet was working everywhere. The bathroom was a little cold, but it was fine because the shower was hot. They have several events and little trips to neighbour cities.
