Very helpful and friendly staff, from the 1st minute to the last, we fall in love with Lisbon also thanks to your advice. The place is perfect, as the situation : we walked during our four days (except to go to Belem...) Lisbon has to be discovered by foot, even if there is a lot of buses and tram.

Even though the lobby was under construction, I loved my stay at Johnies place. The place seemed very warm and friendly, and was a very relaxing place to come back to after long days of sight seeing. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the other people in the hostel made the trip worth it! The rooms were clean, the linen smelled nice, and the bathrooms were very nice! It was kind of hard to find and little far from the bars, but I am glad we chose this place to stay. It is very conveniently located to a VERY awesome lookout over the city that captures the whole city and the sunset.

We had booked a different hostel in Lisbon when we first drove there. They had some problem right before we reached Lisbon, and so we were left in the lurch. We found Johnie's Place then, and were expecting it to be a not-so-nice-but-cheap kind of place. We were surprised by how clean and comfortable it was. The manager and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Before we went out to see the city, we shared our life stories. They were very honest, and told us about not just the good things, but also some bad things about being a tourist in Lisbon. When I go to Lisbon next time, I will surely visit Johnie's place to meet the owners and the staff even if I have enough money to afford a big hotel.

Room Tip: I don't think any room in unclean, so you won't need to spend time thinking about which room...

It is a very nice and comfortable place to stay. Clean and Tidy. The hostel is pretty small, so you have the impression to stay at home or at a friend's house. Little price for good experience in Lisbon!

I stayed in this hostel for one month and I had a great time. I never felt so comfortable in a hostel before and this is definitely due to the owner who is always making sure you have everything you need. The atmosphere in the hostel can be described as cosy, calm and familiar. The dorms, kitchen and bathrooms are very clean and homely furnished, so everytime I came back from exploring the city, it felt like a place where I can relax.
The location of the hostel is beautifully situated on one of Lisbon's hills near the castle. You can see the river if you have a morning coffee on the windowsill or just talk a 15 min walk down the hill to the center.

I've seen a lot of people coming and going, young and old, and I would say 95% percent of them appreciated the hostel for what it is: a clean, cosy place to stay where you can escape the hecitcness and rush of a day in the city.
The other 5% didn't really understand the idea of a hostel and complained about things that don't belong in a hostel but in a 5 star hotel.

I would always recommend Johnie's Place. It is absolutely the best value for little money.

Located in an old district, near a viewpoint square, really clean, with friendly staff and a nice atmosphere. A 15 minute walk to the city center or you can take a tram (2 min walk). And - a good price ;-)
