“wonderful hostel”

It felt like being at a friends house.... a warm friendly welcome , an athmosphere to feel like at home ... I came from a nature-place in Alentejo and had to spend one night in Lisbon because of a flight in the early morning. The hostel was like an oase in the busy citylife. Just a walk of 5 minutes and I was in a little restaurant with original beautiful fado life music. In the early morning so easy to use the kitchen for a tea and a müsli and leaving with a taxi to the airport. So it was a pleasure to spend one night in Lisbon.

I had a great stay at The Lisbon Calling Hostel. The staff was very welcoming, and extremely helpful. The rooms were clean and the whole place was very nice. I practically had the entire hostel to myself. Although this was very nice to have all the space to myself, it was also the only downside to my stay. I was hoping to meet some new people, especially since I was traveling alone, the company would have been nice. I definitely recommend staying here if anyone plans to visit Lisbon. The hostel is very centrally located and everything is walking distance!

Excellent, warm place near the old town, one minute from the end of Metro Green Line. Beautiful restaurants around where you can find delicious dishes of good quality food and reasonable to low prices. But the real gem is the hostel and the lovely people who run it. Friendly and helpful. Clean and lovely decorated afar from IKEA standards with reasonable room prices. This place is invested with personal work and love and it certainly gets much of it back. And it is worth it! Definitely the place to stay in Portugal.

We spent there two nights in a different rooms. First was a 1987 and second was huge room 1812. We were impressed by this experience cause we saw how everything was organized in this hostel. I mean design, service and entertainment.

Room Tip: Both rooms that we have chosen (1987 & 1812) had view to the church.

Stayed in the private double room with ensuite. Really comfortable and stylish. Great to have access to a very cool kitchen to store some food and drink. The location is excellent, right beside main travel station and also very close to some great nightlife and restaurants. Would recommend it very highly. Staff were very nice and had some great recommendations for going out. Excellent value too.

I was there 3 nights and it was awesome. The hostal is clean and the personal was so nice with us. It is a lighting place and the furniture is so original. The kitchen is ok, with a lot of stuff and clean, good meal for breakfast. Confortable beds (you'll sleep great unless you have noisy roommates!), great location, so close to the centre of the town. And cheap! I love it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine.

We stayed in the themed rooms at Lisbon Calling for 6 nights in late September and were very impressed. The rooms are large, clean, uniquely decorated and the shared bathroom is full of plants giving it a special touch. There is a kitchen and fresh bread is provided every day. The hotel is located right near the Cais Do Sodre metro/train station from where it is easy to get metros to key spots of the city, trams to Belem and trains out to the beautiful beach spots of Cascais. The hotel is also within walking distance of most things to be seen in Lisbon. The area is quiet in the day but the hotel opens out onto a nice square with an old-style quiosque serving drinks throughout the day. At night, the area is transformed with some great places to drink into the early hours.

Lisbon is a fantastic city and one that is easy to explore by foot with many great food and drink stops along the way and some beautiful squares. We were there during Lisbon week where a cool pop up bar and eating area was set up just ten minutes from the hotel along the river. A beautiful spot for a few caipirinhas although the Portuguese gizzards we ordered by accident instead of mussels didn't quite go down so well.

I would definitely recommend Lisbon Calling to someone who wants a relatively cheap room in a very friendly hotel perfectly situated for a holiday of sight seeing, mooching and plenty of great food and drink.

Room Tip: The 1812 and 1923 rooms are great. The 1812 looks out on to a lovely square whereas the 1923 is open...
