I was there 3 nights and it was awesome. The hostal is clean and the personal was so nice with us. It is a lighting place and the furniture is so original. The kitchen is ok, with a lot of stuff and clean, good meal for breakfast. Confortable beds (you'll sleep great unless you have noisy roommates!), great location, so close to the centre of the town. And cheap! I love it.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fine.

We stayed in the themed rooms at Lisbon Calling for 6 nights in late September and were very impressed. The rooms are large, clean, uniquely decorated and the shared bathroom is full of plants giving it a special touch. There is a kitchen and fresh bread is provided every day. The hotel is located right near the Cais Do Sodre metro/train station from where it is easy to get metros to key spots of the city, trams to Belem and trains out to the beautiful beach spots of Cascais. The hotel is also within walking distance of most things to be seen in Lisbon. The area is quiet in the day but the hotel opens out onto a nice square with an old-style quiosque serving drinks throughout the day. At night, the area is transformed with some great places to drink into the early hours.

Lisbon is a fantastic city and one that is easy to explore by foot with many great food and drink stops along the way and some beautiful squares. We were there during Lisbon week where a cool pop up bar and eating area was set up just ten minutes from the hotel along the river. A beautiful spot for a few caipirinhas although the Portuguese gizzards we ordered by accident instead of mussels didn't quite go down so well.

I would definitely recommend Lisbon Calling to someone who wants a relatively cheap room in a very friendly hotel perfectly situated for a holiday of sight seeing, mooching and plenty of great food and drink.

Room Tip: The 1812 and 1923 rooms are great. The 1812 looks out on to a lovely square whereas the 1923 is open onto the inner courtyard.

I normally like a mid to high-end hotel when having a weekend away but my wife booked this so I thought I'd go with the flow even though it is also a hostel but what a wonderful surprise we had.

The hostel is a little hard to find and is on the 3rd floor of a block (with a lift). We stayed in the adjoining apartment which had a private room and bathroom as well as a kitched which was fully stocked for breakfast etc. Warm bread arrives at your door each morning in a little cloth bag too. The room was a fantastic kitch mashup - totally unique - but very clean, spacious and tidy.

The best think about the place though was the staff, all universally delightful, very happy to help, very friendly and accommodating. And all this for just over €50 per night - unbelieveable!

Room Tip: Worth going for the apartment if you can get it.

We stayed in a shared room in this hostel and it was really very nice. The location is great, you can get to the centre in no time. The staff of this hostel is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and tidy. The atmosphere in the hostel is really relaxed. As other people have commented, the facilities are great, with free breakfast and the option to make your own coffee or meal.

Room Tip: My room was actually okay, but it was next to the street so we heard some noise from traffic and nearby cafes. If you prefer a quiet room, ask for one that is not on the street side.

It's all been said already really… but we can confirm that this is a delightful and rather special hostel.

A few minutes walk from the Cais de Sodre metro stop (be sure to print off the "how to find us" guide on the hostel website - it is handy when finding the place for the first time), Lisbon Calling is in the middle of the old town and at the very heart of everything that Lisbon has to offer!

JP, Pedro and the team are so nice and friendly and you are made to feel welcome when you arrive.

We stayed in the private room 1812 for our first night. It is enormous, quirky & romantic plus boasts two windows that open out over the leafy square below. Just lovely!
Room 1812 doesn't have an en-suite but sharing the bathroom down the hall didn't prove any issue at all.

For our second 2 nights, we stayed in the private room 1979 which was also really funky!
It is slightly smaller than room 1812 but it does have its own private bathroom ;)

You get all you need at this hostel. A warm welcome, a safe place to stay, a top location, clean linen, a quiet & relaxed atmosphere, an adequate kitchen space,… and all for a reasonable price.

There is a supermarket a few feet away which is handy and you are also a 2 minute walk from "Pink Street" - try the Rosinha de Sao Paulo restaurant = yummy :-)

For the rest, Lisbon is right there on your doorstep so pack some decent walking shoes and just go explore!

Lisbon Calling You…!

Room Tip: We fell in love with room 1812!
