“Very good!”
Reviewed June 10, 2014 via mobile

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Fenix Hotel garden for one night. The room was very nice and clean. The staff from the reception to the cleaning lady has been very polite and helpful. The Hotel has a private garage that can be used for a fixed fare of around 10 euros and they let us leave our care there for far over our check-out time. The position is very central and right next to a metro station. Last but not least the breakfast buffet is very rich. Very good value for money!

We stayed here for a week as part of a family reunion and found it excellent. It's a modern hotel just round the corner from its posher big brother but the essentials weren't skimped on. The room and the hotel were immaculately clean and the view from our room overlooking the garden was very nice. The shower was powerful and the water was hot. The buffet breakfast had the largest choice I've ever seen and they even provided a kettle and small tea pots for the English tea addicts! Staff were friendly and very helpful when my husband "lost" his wallet in the city centre. Its location at the top of Avenida da Liberdade means that you can easily walk into the historic city centre and hop on the metro for the return journey. All in all, excellent value for money and the best budget hotel we've stayed in.

The hotel is perfectly located at the marques de pombal plaza, its is modern, clean with a very nice personnel and the pricing is very reasonable. They have complementary wi fi in the rooms. The breakfast was very delicious. Beds and linen were fine. The only little thing which i did not like - there was no even a tiny fridge in the room.

We recently stayed four nights at the Hotel Fenix Garden. The room was plenty big enough with comfortable beds and modern decor. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. The bathroom particularly was modern and very clean with nice towels. The bathroom would have benefitted from a socket for toothbrushes and shavers but otherwise it was great. Although the hotel is on a busy roundabout and we stayed in one of the front facing rooms, we couldn't hear any street noise in the room and we had the benefit of a view of the square and park. The hotel is extremely convenient for the hop on / hop off buses which all leave from the opposite side of the street. The hotel staff were all polite. A couple of the reception staff could smile a little more but they were helpful when asked and others were very friendly and welcoming. The staff at breakfast were very helpful and provided gluten free bread and biscuits each day. Breakfast was of good quality with plenty of choice and a nice selection of fresh fruit. I would definitely choose the hotel again when visiting Lisbon.

We stayed here for four nights. This hotel is in a perfect location for getting around. It is opposite the main pick up point for the sightseeing buses. The metro is just around the corner.
The hotel is modern and has a bright interior. Pitched at the right level for a city break. The free wifi is a real bonus. Vending machines on each floor are a good idea for obtaining bottles of water for the rooms.
The breakfasts are buffet style and are plentiful. The fresh fruit is fabulous. The fried bacon and scrambled egg is not so good!
The property adjoining the hotel is undergoing a total refurbishment. The builders are working there from 8:30 until 6:00 during the week, so there is some noise. Not good if you fancy an afternoon nap! The main square is just around the corner. This is where the football supporters congregate after a match. It was particularly noisy one evening when Benfica played. Fans were hooting their horns until the early hours of the morning.
The room was immaculate. The bed was comfortable. The staff on reception were helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Try and get a room at the back of the hotel. It will probably be quieter.

A friend and I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights while traveling to Lisbon, and overall our experience was wonderful. I'd stay there again and would recommend it to others.

The hotel is conveniently located very near the metro and right downtown, which made getting around easy. The staff was helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English, if that's needed. And when we left, hotel staff connected us to an airport shuttle, which was only 6 euros per person and picked up right at the hotel.

I booked in advance through the website and received a reasonable price, which included breakfast. The room itself was lovely--modern and clean, with an included safe in the closet. Also, there is free wi-fi throughout the hotel, which was great, and a computer in the lobby for guest use. My room was at the back of the hotel, which was quiet. (The front of the hotel faces a busy street.) The breakfast buffet was very good with lots of options--hot foods including scrambled eggs, beans, small hot dogs, mushrooms/zucchini; breads and cakes; cold foods including cheeses, meats, hard-boiled eggs, yogurt; fresh and canned fruit; juice/coffee/tea.

The only negative I'd note is that the bathroom's shower temperature was variable--once it was set, the water would randomly get MUCH hotter and then cool down again.

NOTE: The HF chain has a "preferred guest" program titled YOU - once you join it, and make a reservation using HFHOTELS.COM, you get a 10% discount over the booked accommodation price when you check-in (http://you.hfhotels.com/?en).

The HF Fenix Garden is a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport and located directly opposite the Parqe Eduardo VII on the Parqe Marques de pombal at the top of the Avenida da Liberdade which is the main thoroughfare down to the Barrio Alto, Baxia and Alfama districts. The hotels location is perfectly situated for exploring the city with the metro station almost directly outside the hotel and the hop on hop off bus terminal across the road.

Don’t be put off by the maps which give the appearance that the hotel is quite a way out of town, it really isn’t. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the Barrio Alto and Baxia districts down the the Avenida da Liberdade which is a lovely tree lined avenue dotted with small kiosk cafes selling drinks and refreshments surrounded by high end shops and hotels, we really enjoyed strolling up and down there every day especially in the evenings when there is live music.

The hotel which is attached to its sister hotel the HF Fenix Lisboa which is a larger 4 star hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the rooms are serviced once a day. It is worth paying a bit extra to get a superior room as they overlook the Parqe Eduardo VII, they are on the front of the hotel which is on a busy road but we didn’t hear any road noise at all. The standard rooms are on the back overlooking a small paved garden area so it’s worth the extra expense (try and get a higher floor for better views) The room itself was a decent size, more than adequate for two people, I’m not too sure that the frosted glass bathroom door is a good idea but other than that it was fine. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide range of hot and cold selections, more than enough choice for all tastes. There is free wi fi throughout the hotel which was quite fast and worked well. I should also mention that the reception staff were very helpful and polite as I had previously read a few bad reviews of their service. As we had a very early flight home we used the hotels airport transfer service which costs €6 per person and again like most things associated with this hotel it was a very good service.

I have a few tips for anyone who might be interested.

If you buy your hop on hop off ticket which costs €18 - €23 for 48 hours you will get discounts on the entry fees to most of the attractions in Lisbon, There are 4 lines which you can buy any combination of and I would highly recommend that you purchase the orange line which goes down to Estoril and Cascais. It takes about an hour to get to Cascais but it is well worth it as Cascais is a beautiful coastal resort with lovely beaches.

Be very careful if you are intending to use the popular tram 28 as it is a favourite for pickpockets due to the fact that passengers are packed in like sardines.

The area around Parca da Figueira (Figueira Square) and Praca dom Pedro IV (Rossio Square) are plagued with drug dealers who operate openly as the police seem to turn a blind eye. We were even approached by one of our waiters trying to sell drugs in the restaurant as we dined which was quite appalling.

If you are going to watch a Benfica match at the Estadio da Luz it’s a 5 minute tube ride from the hotel and it will cost you €1.60 for a return ticket, (a day pass for the metro is €6). The metro station outside the hotel is the Marques de Pombal and it is only 7 stops on the blue line to the Colegio Militar/Luz station which is directly across from the stadium.

I would advise anyone intending to visit Lisbon to look no further than the HF Fenix Garden as it is an excellent hotel in a perfect location and the best value for money you will find in Lisbon.

An urban haven where the commotion does not enter. To enjoy the city does not mean you need to do without some peace and privacy. The HF Fénix Garden provides the desirable paradox of staying in the heart of Lisbon and feeling protected from all stress. The referential acoustic insulation allows you to observe the city bustle from the window as if it is not real. A strange feeling of seclusion kept in the wide aisles and common areas where, even if the hotel is full, you can feel peace. The decoration and comfort of the HF Fénix Garden make you forget the city and even that you are in a three star hotel. Something that you will only remember on check-out. Very closed to the hotel is Marquês de Pombal, several of Lisbon's main points of interest and all the transportation networks in the city. The HF Fénix Garden offers several free services, such as Internet access in the entire hotel. But the most surprising offer is the feeling of staying in an oasis in the middle of the city. ... more   less
