In short we really enjoyed the traditional Portuguese apartment, the level of communication and service, the location and Lisbon in general. We could not have asked for more
It was my first time using AirBnB and I was not aware of the process, but Joao (the host) was extremely proactive reaching out to me to help me along even setting up airport transfers for us with a very friendly and helpful driver. It was a great way to start the trip there.
We really had a great time. The location of the apartment was great, in the older section were near restaurant and many sights. Also the little things in the apartment like umbrellas left there came in very handy.
Check in and out were seamless, the apartment was clean and exactly as expected and described. Also communication was quick, easy and ongoing.
Our family of 7 adults and a toddler stayed in this apartment on our first visit to Lisbon. João always responded promptly to any questions we had prior to our visit and made sure we were well informed about schedules and the neighborhood. His follow up during our visit was very thoughtful. We felt well cared for, and enjoyed the bottle of wine he left for us . The staff we met were friendly and helpful. The apartment is in a great location right by a tram stop and comfortable for all of us. You can walk to many sights and restaurants as well as the Cais de Sodre train station. João arranged for us to have a driver meet our flight which made our arrival to Lisbon very easy. There are USB ports in each bedroom to charge phones... a happy find. I would definitely recommend this apartment to families visiting Lisbon.
Our group of 6 adults stayed here for four nights during the Lisboa festa season. You couldn't find a more perfect location to witness the festival of St. Anthony. We stood on the balconies and watched everything happen just below us!
Joao and his staff were most helpful; lots of communication before we arrived and good service once we were here. Our first night we had trouble with the stove but Joao, Sofia, and her husband were very responsive and got it sorted out. As previous reviewers have stated, pipes are noisy but that is part of that the charm of this district and this apartment. We managed with two floor fans without much trouble. Beds are comfortable, and everything we needed was provided. Would definitely come back if we're in Lisboa again.
This is a 4 bedroom apartment on the second floor that faces the street. The staff was very attentive, contacting me several times before I arrived and just about every day while my family of 7 stayed there (we were there three night). We were met by Sophia who did a good job of checking us in. The wifi is free and works well. The apartment is large. You enter from an interior stairway through a big wooden door. Three bedrooms are straight ahead down a hall, two of them on the right with windows to the outside and one interior bedroom on the left just after a bathroom in the hallway. The interior bedroom has its own bathroom. Right off the entryway is a living room and a dining room, both with small balconies that overlook the street. To the left is a well stocked kitchen with a breakfast table. The master bedroom with its own bath is also in that direction. The location is good just up the hill from the Cathedral Se. The downside is summer sleeping and noise in the master bedroom. The two bedrooms to the left of the hall can stay cool if you leave the windows open. The problem is that the street outside is on a trolley line, and the trolleys roar by right next to the building, in addition to cars climbing up the hill. So, earplugs are in order for those two bedrooms during summer months. The interior bedroom off the hall has no windows so it gets stuffy unless you leave the bedroom door open and open up the doors in the living room and dining room to try to get some air going through. If you do that you then get some street noise, and it is still a little stuffy in that interior bedroom. The master vents well to an interior courtyard and is well shielded from the street noise. The problem with the master is that whenever water is run in the other bathrooms a drain pump or something comes on that sounds like a deranged pulsing garbage disposal in the wall. It is joltingly loud. So the use of the other bathrooms needs to be limited after bedtime. The whole apartment is very well stocked with a cloths washer and dish washer. It could use several more floor fans, though, to help with the cooling in the summertime (there was only one available on check in). Some screens on the master bedroom and master bathroom windows would might also help keep out the occasional stray mosquito, but this may be a rare issue that is not worth messing with. I would stay here again without hesitation anytime but the summer. We stayed in June and did pretty well. I'd be hesitant to stay in July or August unless there were at least 5 floor fans provided (one for each bedroom and one to push air down the hallway to help with the interior bedroom. The place is very pretty and large, though, and can accommodate 8 without feeling crowded. A solid 4 stars in the summer and I'd give it 5 any other time of the year.
Perfect location. Hosts easy to deal with and always responded quickly. Lots of character, right on Tram 28 and lots of space for 5 adults. Updated kitchen and emenities. Limited closet space and A few glitches with shower and toilet seat but did not dampen the holiday. Would recommend.
Cannot fault the location of the apartment, it is great for getting around the city and ideally placed only metres from the famous tram 28. The apartment is very well equipped, particularly for self catering and is really comfortable throughout. The only minor criticism is that the plumbing is noisy, but that does not detract from our very enjoyable stay.
love this renovated house. Very spacious with comfortable furniture, beautiful decorations, and peaceful neighborhood. Host is very responsible and nice. Very easy to talk to and approach. Very happy with my stay.
