We were recommended to eat here by a Portuguese friend and we were not disappointed.
We were temporarily exhausted having climbed three floors to the heaven that awaited. We ate the plethora of delicacies in front of us (ham, cheeses, octopus, etc) and suddenly realised that we did not need a starter at all.
So straight into the entree's it was. I had the grilled sole with spinach and roast potatoes, while Maggie chose the John Dory fillets with tomato rice. The sole was as fresh and delicious as could be but Maggie's John Dory was unexpectedly presented in a tempora batter and was slightly dry but nevertheless very nice. We finished sharing the Madeirean pineapple - we've no idea where the pineapple came from but it was lovely and the combination with Madeira was excellent.
We had heard reports of expensive wines but we saw the opposite - in fact we found the value excellent having started with a modest Planalta Blanc prior to elevating to a waiter recommended bottle of Pera- Manca Vinho Blanco 2010 - a delight.
We will recommend this restaurant to any friends visiting Lisbon - and such excellent value for some of the freshest fish we have tasted.
