We have been at this place June 09th, 2013 with a group of four. The Restaurant is very small but also very cozy. The service was excellent and so was the food. We ordered pork filet with a lemon sauce and chicken asado. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted well. The wine-list could be a little bit more extensive. In my opinion this Restaurant is highly recommended.

We were looking for the place next door which was recommended to us by local friends - Bota Alta, when we found it closed and decided to try this one, which looked very nice from the outside. In fact, the ambience is pretty good, and the service is fine. The only thing we found very poor... was the food. My husband ordered a glass of wine, but got half a liter, not a big problem, but this is where it started. No problem with the food placed on the table and you end up paying for it, we understood this is common in Portugal, and it is sort of mentioned on the menu.
Then our dishes. We ordered a steak with pepper sauce and the veal stew. She asked how the steak should be cooked, we asked for medium-rare. The steak arrived and it was about 1cm high, and well done, so we sent it back, but also considering the fact that it was only that high, it could never have been a proper steak! It came back medium, but the quality of the meat was really poor - not juicy or red, max a bit pink. The veal stew was ok, but dry, the side dish - smashed potato with herbs we think looked like the ones from a bag. Overall not a good meal and if you are around I would advise you to go to the neighbours!

Bairro Alto is full of very average touristy restaurants so we were very glad to stumbled upon O Barrigas. The restaurant had a nice ambience, good service, tasty food and was reasonably priced. During our 6 nights in Lisbon, we ended up coming here for dinner twice. We tried out the cod with egg and potatoes, iberian pork with lemon sauce and spicy chicken - it was all very good. Definitely recommend the baked apples with port wine as dessert!

This restaurant is a nice change from the other places in the area where they pretty much serve you a piece of meat or fish slabbed carelessly onto a plate. Don't waste your time, money and stomach space at those other places with huge menus translated into millions of languages and come here instead!

We had bife pimenta and porco asado, both with a very nice herby mash. The pork was very good, good enough to try and nick the recipe.
Bairro Alto is touristy. But this place played it just right. Bill for two, with dessert and bottle of wine was 50E.

Recommended.

We ordered rice with octopus and the veal stew. Both dishes were very taste full and well prepared. The ambiance was comfortable even as the restaurant is very small. Service was friendly and quick.
