“Crowed beach”

Crowed beach, not the best experience here. Good facilities and bars, they have wheelchair acess to the beach.

It was nice could always get a bed and umbrella there. Beds were 12.50 for two and umbrella but 15 euro on a Saturday. Lovely boardwalk and it was kept very clean.

“Good, clean beach with decent facilities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Tamariz can be reached either from Estoril itself or you can catch a train from Lisbon which stops directly behind the beach or you can walk along the seafront from Cascais. I guess if you didn't fancy the walk you could also get the train from Cascais, which is only two stops but the walk is lovely and only takes 10 minutes.
The beach itself is quite large and a lot less crowded than the ones in Cascais. It still gets plenty of visitors during the summer but you can at least move around easily. The sand is cleaned every night and is soft and golden - perfect for young children. At low tide, the rocks at one end of the beach become exposed which allows you to wander and look in the rock pools. The rocks are not sharp so can be walked on.
The sea is generally quite calm although next to the jetty, the waves can be a bit more forceful. Usually fun to play around in but younger children need to be watched at this end of the beach.
Behind the beach are a selection of restaurants and a few shops. Apart from stopping for a beer, I have not visited them so cannot comment on the quality of the food.
However, just down towards Cascais at the end of the beach is a bar called Jonas' Bar. The food is quite good here and the staff are very friendly. I wouldn't come here for an evening meal, as I think the food is more suited for lunches and snacks - although you do see people here in the evening. I enjoy the Octopus salad here.
If you are in Cascais and prefer a beach that is a little quieter, the 10 minute walk along the sea front is really nice and you will end up at a decent beach.

“Too crowded and commercialized”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Very crowded with overpriced sunbeds and sunscreens (12.5 EUR/Day). The crowd actually depends on the weekday and the Ocean tide, but it is quite busy most of the time for my taste. The cafes and discos on the beach are spoiling the atmosphere. The beach in Carcavelos is much nicer. Anyway the Ocean was unbearably cold for me even though it was mid July. If you wish for a swim don't come here before late August.

“Lovely beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

Wonderful beach, people in the bar near the beach are very kind. The toilets are close to the beach, the location of beach beds are not too expensive and you see the most beautiful girls from estoril.
