“Disappointing”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2012

The hotel looked very nice on the website but was very disappointing. The residential location with virtually derelict houses around it was not good. 2 choices of alchohol free beer didn't go down well either. No shops, bars or restaurants around. Very limited choice for breakfast. Wardrobe doors didn't close. We chose it for it's proximity to Cascais but would certainly not go back.

Room Tip: Try the new block

The hotel is a fairly steep walk uphill from the Estoril Railway Station but you can get a taxi from the rank just outside the station to save you struggling with bags!
It is in a quiet residential area, 5 minutes from the Casion and 10 minutes from the railway Station / beach.
There is an older part and a newer wing (which I satyed in as a single in a double room) overlooking the nice pool (not heated) with plenty of sun loungers and plenty of shade. Romms are very clean and attended to each day.
Breakfast is trypical european holiday food - processed cheese and ham, rolls, cereal, yoghurt etc and with hit scrambled eggs and frankfurter sausages. Nothing spectacular but oka.
There is no bar serving alcoholic drinks but there are plenty of places in the centre of Esoril or, better still, take the sea front walk towards Cascais (West) and you will find plenty to stop at and admite the views across the bay and thre Atlantic Ocean.
From Estoril station you can go to Cascais if you donºt want to walk for a little under 3€ return or you can visit Lisbon for not much more (takes 34 minutes on the train to Cais de Sodre)
Lisbon tip: Ignore the tour buses and purchase a 24 hour travel card at the Post Office (CTT) or any Carris Booths for 5€ (50 cents extra for the card) which is valid for a full day from first use on all trams. buses, metro and funiculars. Take the 28 tram for a ride through the city and stop off at the Castelo St Joau (St Georges) for views across the river and the city.
Hotel Lido is a value for money hotel for the budget traveller

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing ' garden view for quiet and pool view (Pool area is very quiet at...

We stayed 2 nights, on the new block. Love the rooms decoration, enough breakfast, and the view from the terrace is wonderful! Staff willing to help. Close to the beach, next to casino, and still, surrounded by nature, peace and quiet. The shower could be bigger...

Room Tip: There is a new part of the hotel, build recently. Rooms and decoration are great, next to the pool a...

I went with a friend and stayed in this hotel. The staff friendly , pleasant and Helpful.
The rooms are clean.
Also this hotel is situated in residential area so it is bit quiet Some time there is some noise with the buses, cars passing by.

And it is near the beach it is around 5 minutes walking.
The value of money for this 3 star hotel it is reasonable.

We stayed two nights, got a good rate, room in new section clean although small. Staff pleasant, pool area lovely.
Just one thing, the bar serves no alcohol at all, we thought we would sit by the pool with a beer or glass of wine, no go! they only serve fruit juices and water ( ok for a health spa, but not a holiday resort )

Room Tip: Ask for new wing.

We stayed here for 5 nights on an organised holiday package. I think some of the other reviews are far too harsh. This is, after all, a 3 star hotel [local grading] in a country in deep recession. But, as several criticisms have been made I'll address them as well as the positives. The hotel is 5 mins from the centre; 8 from the station. Yes, there is a gradient for the last 400m. but it's hardly the Eiger. We are in our late 60's, and didn't need crampons or a St Bernard. The room was clean and well maintained, with towels and linen changed daily. No "wildlife" but, OK, this was May. Perhaps, when it is much hotter....? We did suffer one night from noisy neighbours, but this was the fault of the 20-somethings occupying the next room on a warm night when windows were open and they had clearly enjoyed a booze-filled evening out. It happens. This is a beach resort and with-in pocket. Closing the windows and using the air-con ameliorated all but the banging of door locks. The staff was small but very friendly and helpful. No bar or evening restaurant maybe unusual, but not unheard of. A fine restaurant/bar (Pica Pau) is 200m away, had excellent food at very reasonable prices and was freely recommended by the hotel staff upon request. Breakfast was "Continental", though there were some hot dishes, and was of a similar standard to those found, in my experience, in similar hotels across western Europe. Yes, the coffee was naff but so it proved, in my opinion, wherever we had it in Portugal. I'd prefer Spanish or Italian coffee any day but we weren't staying there. And it was certainly no worse than the awful dish water you pay the earth for in UK chains. So, overall, I'd say it was a good average - it served our purpose very well and offered good value for the price we were paying. You get what you pay for - if you want 5-star, pay for it!

Overall it was good value for money. Our room was clean, modern decor but soundproof it is not! Woken to "frisky neighbours" mornings and last thing at night. Could even hear their neighbours banging on tne walls telling them to keep it down. Staff were friendly and location is good for gettibg around. The advertiser bar is a cafe that is not attended by any staff. Despite ringing the bell several times on different days. Managed to purchase water from reception but thats it. Breakfast was most basic and unappealing, even the coffee was undrinkable. Having said all that we got a cheap deal for 1 week in march and werent expecting gourmet foodfor that price.
