Nice patio, good service. A bit removed (3 min walk) and a bit hard to find from the beach but a better alternative to the food right on the boardwalk. Duck was fantastic and steak was good. View of ocean is lovely.

The restaurant has a very nice terrace with a commanding view of the ocean, which is truly stunning. However, the food is pretty unimaginative. We had two starters: a cold chickpeas and codfish salad - which was ok - and squids in tomato sauce, which were really not very tasty. We than shared a pica-pau (pieces of beef in gravy), which was tasty, although I haven't tried is elswhere so I can't really compare it to the way it is supposed to be traditionally. For desert, we had a piece of cheesecake - good - and a creme brulee, which was a disaster. It came completely liquid, and when I complained to the waiter, he conceded that it shouldn't be that way, "but this happens sometimes", and made no offer to replace it or to take it off our tab. In my view, this is something that should never, ever happen in a restaurant, regardless of the price - and this was not a cheap place.

The service was great, many michelin star restaurant can learn from serving wine as our Brazilian waitress did.

The food was ok . One had cod,, which is salted dry cod dehydrated as everywhere in this area and very spongy squid. Both plates where garnished with spinach and some olive oil with balsamic vinegar. Not a lot of imagination.

Do not have the creme brulee. It's plain custard with brown sugar on a normal sarter plate. Below any standard really! As for the dark chocolate delight; it came from the microwave, typical example of a restaurant that has every potential if the manager puts the effort towards it.

Conclusion: With the average traveller accepting the average food for an average price on a great location people will have a nice evening after all. Probably also a bit of a belly ache of the salty prefabricated food. Must see; the wine list which is fully on iPad, very nice touch.

This is a cosy restaurant just above the train station in Monte Estoril. Food is great, try the chicken or the sirloin! They also have a really tasty apple pie-dessert which is not to miss. I'm sure that BG Bar is also great just for drinking.
