“The most hospitable hosts”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

Aside from being in an absolutely gorgeous, picturesque part of the world, Colina Flora was a totally charming, friendly place to stay run by some of the best hosts (James and Aasta) I've come across. The Inn is within short reach (by bus or taxi) of several cool towns and cities (including being only 35-40 minutes from Lisboa) and the beach. It is within a huge national park, so things like biking and hiking are also readily available. Everything was clean, the vegetarian-friendly food was great and James was more than willing to help us set up several day trips, find us directions, make reservations etc. It really made things so much easier to have someone like him helping us out. In short, I have nothing negative to say and I would certainly return. Thanks James and Aasta for a great vacation!

,High above the village of Peneda below, the Colina Flora is a lovingly created house and gardens.

The bedroom we enjoyed on the top floor had 360 degree views from the coast to the mountains. The room was twice the size of a conventional hotel bedroom and was beautifully furnished.

James and Aasa could not have been more attentive, and the vegetarian dinner(you can have fish if you want) was exceptional. Likewise the breakfasts with an array of options featuring local organic produce.

An individual and "querky" experience, not to be missed.

Room Tip: Room at the top is superb

We stayed for 4 nights in between visiting Lisbon in early October. Everything was perfect. Our room was comfortable, clean with the delight of the terrace and fire for colder nights. The breakfasts were lovely as was the meal we had one evening. James is very helpful and is full of advice and ready to help in any way that he can. I wish them every success with their venture and future plans.

I've nothing really to dd to all the preceding reviews. It really is as has been described and we had the most comfortable and recuperative stay . The rooms , the breakfasts, the pool, the crystal clear atmosphere and the beautiful green surroundings all help to make a wonderful stay, but I doubt that we would have managed to make the most of our time if it had not been for the excellent and helpful advice we were given from James. He really responded to the sort of things we wanted to do and pointed us in the right direction, whether to walk , sight-see or eat. He and Aasta work incredibly hard to help you to enjoy your stay - and to maintain their environmental standards and principles. Aasta's evening meals, when available were superb.

Room Tip: Rose room is spacious and very peaceful

This lovely, friendly and clean B&B is a great place to stay. In between the beautiful beach at Almocageme and the amazing Sintra parks and palaces!
James and Aasta were very accommodating, helping with hints and tips of what to do in the area.
The rooms were very clean and felt like a home from home. The breakfast was great in the morning, we were only disappointed to not have been able to try Aasta's dinners, but she only cooks every other day and we were an unusual booking as they had one night free (they only do two nights normally but were booked up).
The pool was in a beautiful setting.
All in all a great place to stay, would throughly recommend!

... in beautiful countryside near stunning Sintra: a 4 bedroom eco-lodge run by James, a meticulous planner and supplier of hand-drawn walking maps detailed down to the last manure pile and self-effacing Aasta who produces spectacular breakfasts and some dinners. We loved the view from Marigold room and were delighted when the evening was cool enough for us to light the fire on our covered balcony. A diverse and interesting group of guests. Colina Flora is accessible by public transport and, with a bit of planning, walkers can link up with the local bus (and occasional tram) service. James and Aasta provide an evening shuttle service to local restaurants and taxi fares seem reasonable for those who want to go further afield. Very highly recommended.
