“Avoid Avoid Avoid”
Reviewed June 5, 2012

Rooms have little or no soundproofing. You have the sounds of bars and clubs till the early hours and street sweeping machines etc. from 6AM onwards. The worst night of sleep I have ever experienced in any hotel.

The GM/Owner refused to meet me or discuss this with me on the phone, even though he was in the vicinity. He is unprofessional in the extreme.

I did not feel that I should have to pay my bill in full given the above. I was informed that if i didnt the money would be taken from staff wages, which is unfair so I paid in full. That is the type of operation that you are dealing with here I am afraid.

Avoid at all costs. N.B. The nearby Hotel Valbom is under the same control, so the same advice applies there.

We stayed in this hotel by chance: the one we booked originally had to relocate us to Hotel Da Vila due to some problems with plumbing.
It is a proper 3 star hotel with nothing special to mention. It indeed has great location: right in the center and around 10 minutes easy walk to the nearby beach.
The hotel seems to have been renovated recently: both the room and the shower are clean and functional. The room is on the small side & has no chairs, fridge or tea making facilities, so I would not recommend this hotel if you are staying longer than a couple of days.
The beds are extremely uncomfortable though: they are kind of bouncy and every time you turn in them, you feel like you are falling off the bed.
They provide only hand soap and shower/shampoo gel, so bring your own body lotion if needed. They do have hairdryer in the bathroom which is not a usual thing in 3 star hotels.
We did not have breakfast but if you go down the road to the nearby bakery you can get breakfast rolls and coffee for as little 6-8 euro for two people.
You need to pay for the internet, but i could not get it work for some reason on my computer.
All in all, it is well priced hotel with great location and perfect for a couple of nights stay in Cascais.

Room Tip: all rooms seem to be good: ours was on the top floor

The hotel is good but in need of some work.
The outside looks already renewed but our room needed some paint job and other works.
The breakfast was ok.
The location is superb!

Good points:
* Superb location, right in the middle of town, less than a 5 minute walk to the beach
* Exceptional service, very friendly and helpful
* Very clean and modern
* Relatively cheap when booked online in advance
Bad point:
* The hotel is about 2 doors down from a bar that stays open late, so there is noise from about 11pm to 3am most nights. However, if when booking you stipulate that you want to stay on the OTHER SIDE of the hotel away from the side road with the bar, you will get a better nights sleep.

The good points far outweigh the bad. This is a decent basic hotel which does the job. More 'some frills' than 'no frills'. The location is the key.

As a side note, Cascais itself is amazing, well worth a trip. For 2.40 euros you can catch a train along the coast for 35 minutes into Lisbon to explore. I am definately coming back here and would recommend the hotel and area to anyone.

Room Tip: The hotel is about 2 doors down from a bar that stays open late, so there is noise from about 11pm t...

Near to Tourist office and easy to find, the hotel let us check in 3 hours early, no problems at all. Our room was clean and modern, cleaned and new towels daily, nice shower, comfortable bed and a good selection of tv channels. There was free internet access in foyer. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is near all of the bars and restaurants and just a short walk from the train and railway station and taxi rank. It is an ideal base for going to see Motogp at Estoril circuit. I don't understand some of the reviewers - it seems that some people expect 6 star facilities but only want to pay youth hostel prices! It was a really nice modern hotel, we got a great deal from Travel Republic approx £35-40 a night. We would definately recommend the hotel to others and stay there again if we return to Cascais.

We only stayed for one night at Da Vila as we booked an apartment overlooking the sea for our remaining 3 nights in Cascais. Thank goodness we didn't stay more nights than the one. The rooms are VERY SMALL! We paid about £67 for the night. At the desk it said £140 per night. very glad we didn't pay that much.
The bath room was also very small. no bath. the water didn't drain away and the shower curtain was too long. the grouting around the bottom was black in places.
the bed was comfy enough and our room, 113, was very quiet and it was a thursday night.
if the price was half what we paid, i would recommend this hotel, however for this amount it is way overpriced.

I stayed for 4 nights in the beginning of August 2010. The hotel has a great location - in the heart of Cascais close to restaurants and the sea. And this is pretty much it for the good sides... the rooms are very small and very basic which does not have to matter if you are in Cascais to go out.
But.. I had a room on the first floor. When I opened the window I was surprised too see that it was just about half a meter above street level with a car parked so close that I could probably touch it if I reached out. Needless to say that opening the window was not an option.
The breakfast server was also very basic - pretty much the same style as in the plastic Formule 1 hotels in France.
