Nice,spacy rooms.
The corridors feel a bit sterile.
Very good service and kind people.
Food in the restaurant is excellent.
Nice atmosphere at the bar also.
We liked the golf course, although we had a lot of wind when we played. Don't know if this is usually so.

Coming from Ireland, I am perhaps a little biased but I would in no way consider this course among the best in the world. There are easily 20 courses in Ireland alone that are far superior. Also, its claim to be "pure links golf" is simply ridiculous.

In fairness, the greens are exceptional, but there are too many straight-up-straight-down par 4s for my liking and it is too easy from the tee.

Finally, their complete reluctance to do a deal for us on the golf buggies was very disappointing. €70 for a buggy is way over the top....

We have played Oitavos Dunes a few times over the years, the first time we were the only people there! We played this time with a strong 2-3 clubs extra wind so chose to hire a buggy (70 euros). We were disappointed that the course was absolutely overflowing with golfers and this meant we had to wait on nearly every shot. A problem we have often encountered this up the road at Quinta Da Marinha and no longer play there. Maybe this is due to the hotel on site now. This course is not cheap but is a fantastic test of golf and maybe should be played at least once in your life!! We didn't use the bar etc this time but it has always been OK in the past.

A course that lives up to its world and European top 100 ranking. A challenging test, particularly on a windy day. Some great holes, some very interesting greens and well looked after by all the staff in and around the clubhouse.

I thought the course was very good with stunning views. There are some fantastic holes, particularly the 8th, 10th, 14th, 18th but also some that are a little weak such as the 12th (stupid green) and 16th. However, I didn't feel it had the consistent challenge of Penha Longa and was not in as good condition. The welcome and service from the reception staff and marshalls was good, but again not fantastic. We had to go across to the hotel for lunch which is an odd building. The service was good, but understaffed and took a while.
