We visit Cascais a couple of times a year and this is one of our favourite hotels here. The location is great if you don't need a car as you can walk into town in 5 minutes. The hotel is right on the seafront, just rocks between the deck surrounding the pool and the waves, which sometimes crash over the railings onto the deck.
This is an expensive place to stay, 5 star luxury, but the staff are well trained, friendly and attentive.
There are 10 designer rooms, each designed by a different designer. We have stayed in one of the rooms and it was lovely but this visit we had a standard room in the attic on the third floor. The room was large and lovely with a sea view, the bathroom was spacious and comfortable. We were very pleased with the room and had a great stay. If you are tall you will need to watch out for the roof trusses which are a bit low at the foot of the bed.
The pool is salt water, so no red eyes from chlorine, there is a bar and restaurant which serves your every need and a separate sophisticated Sushi bar for something different.

The main restaurant serves great food and has an outside terrace where tables are laid overlooking the sea for breakfast, worth getting up before it closes at 10.30 for a fantastic buffet, they will cook omelette to order if you don't fancy the scrambled or poached egg on offer.

We will be back here again without doubt.

This is an expensive hotel so you would expect it to be special. Unfortunately, whilst the location is undoubtedly fabulous, the hotel itself is not really 5 star or particularly remarkable. Perhaps staying in a designer hotel means sacrificing the ‘luxury’ element. We had ants in the room and the floor was slightly sticky. They sent the housekeeper up, but the ants came back, by which time I could not be bothered to ask for a room change. The bath was chipped, the screen for the shower leaked horribly and only one side of the smallish bed room window opened. There were two of us, but only one comfy chair which was in fact a ‘poof’ and a desk chair (plastic), so nowhere to sit comfortably together except the bed. Drinks service around the pool was patchy and a ‘lost opportunity’ for the hotel. There was a shortage of towels by 11am. The staff keen, but slightly amateurish which is probably how this review was ever allowed to arise.
The location is undoubtedly dreamy with a terrace to die for. However, the competition is stiff around here and there are plenty of seriously better and more comfortable options.

We stayed at the Farol Hotel for a long weekend with the initial plan to travel around. The hotel was so breathtaking that we never left. From the wonderful breakfast on the terrasse to the evening drinks in the ultra design bar, we had the most amazing experience. We hightly recommend staying there. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Definitely room with a view over the pool side

Booked farol Desgin hotel for two nights in a designer room.
Room was nice enough with a balcony, hydro spa bath and shower. Nothing designer about it though. The view was half covered by an extension roof but was still beautiful.
Early morning on our second day we wanted to upgrade to a suite as I felt the photos had not shown a true likeliness to the room we had.
One suite had panoramic views with windows that opened fully but no balcony. Facing ocean and road. Hydro spa bath. small separate living area (corner room)
The other had full length window and rainfall shower....no hydro spa bath, front view (can't recall if it had a balcony) again separate small living area
The last was the farol suite.
Double balcony with two chairs and lounger giving you Pool and Ocean view. In room jacuzzi bath and shower with Ocean view. Separate living area still with ocean view.
We paid extra took the farol suite and loved it.
Overall the hotel offered amazing views in relaxed seating areas.
Staff were extremely helpful especially petro at reception.
The bar staff were lovely and accommodating making drinks to personal liking whilst having casual chats.
Breakfast was standard European breakfast. Did not dine here for lunch/supper.
Only downsides would be the bed was two doubles pushed together, the shower curtain needed to be cleaned, and charging for in room tea/coffee €1 per capsule......in a suite!
5 min walk to marina
10 min walk to beaches
10min walk hells mouth
30 min drive from LIS

I stayed here with two of my best friends for 3 nights and loved our weekend. The breakfast was the standard european breakky. The pool service and lunches around the pool were great, Very friendly & happy staff.
We hired bikes and rode around the headland which was a great way to see the sites. The local villages is just a short 5 min walk and has some lovely restaurants.
We stayed in a suite which had a lovely balcony over looking the ocean, good size and nice bathroom. Ladies remember to bring a light cardigan for the evenings as it can get a little breezy.

We booked this hotel using booking.com and got a fabulous price. So when we arrived we assumed we would be put into the worst room - wrong! We had a wonderful, quiet first floor room with ocean view. The room itself was nice sized, nice bathroom, and very quiet. Breakfast was very good in their dining room which overlooks the ocean.

The staff was not only pleasant but went out of their way to make sure our questions were answered and our needs met. They had excellent restaurant recommendations for restaurants within walking distance.

Another very nice thing about the hotel is the location. A short walk into the historical part of Cascais on the one hand, and long walkways along the rugged ocean cliffs in the other direction. In addition, it is only 30 minutes from Lisbon.
