“Lovely Place, Fair Prices, Great Sushi”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

We stayed here, and had a wonderful time. The hotel is modern, and in a gorgeous location, with a great pool area right beside the ocean and a fantastic Sushi restaurant if you are peckish.

The service was great, the prices were fair, and the manager was really helpful.

Highly recommend this place for a long weekend in beautiful Cascais.

Oh and the cocktails are delicious too!

Absolutely fantastic hotel! Located a 5 min walk from the centre, great design and a really fresh look. And the pool area was amazing - a real paradise! Luxury sun beds, even double beds with thick matresses and ceilings for more shade - perfect for me that was pregnant!
Would definately go here again! :)

The Farol Design Hotel is a wonderful, relaxing and extremely chilled hotel.

The staff are amazingly helpful and go out of there way to assist you, whether it be at the poolside, when you arrive or at breakfast. We stayed in one of the Design Rooms (214) and it had a balcony and wonderful view of the sea, rocks and the rest of the hotel.

The breakfast was fantastic, lots of variety, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, croissants, bread, cheeses, hams, bacon, eggs etc. and also on the weekends you can have Champagne! We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening as we went with our 4 year old daughter and there wasn't masses of variety for her. If we had been on our own we would have done as the food looked really lovely.

The pool was extremely relaxing with plenty of beds, all different varieties and around 11am they come round with fresh fruit and cold towels, a real treat in the warm sun.

We weren't charged any extra for taking our daughter to the hotel and we thought this was fantastic given how welcoming they were too her. However, although this hotel was great for us as a family, if your children are slightly more boisterous it may not be for you, as it's a very chilled out and relaxed environment and not really great for noisy children.

The train into Lisbon is only 2.55 Euro's per person and a half hour train journey away, it's definitely worth a visit, as it's a wonderful City. Also Guincho Beach is fantastic, great waves and less busy than the beaches in Cascais. You can get the bus from the town centre to Guincho, the staff at the hotel can direct you.

The restaurants at the Marina were cheaper than the ones in the town centre and we had wonderful food the whole time we were there... especially tasting some fab house wines for only 6.50 Euros a time (at the Marina, the town in more).

If you go with children there's a wonderful park a 3 minute walk from the hotel, but ideally go later in the day when it isn't so hot!

Can't really fault this hotel at all! Thanks for a wonderful stay and for being so welcoming!

The Farol was the perfect place to spend my birthday this year. The hotel is modern and cool, our room had a beautiful view over the rocks and sea, the pool area is absolutely gorgeous, dinner and drinks were fab... all in all, strongly recommended.

It's worth noting that if you're in this part of the world, Cascais is a lovely town and very worth exploring; favorite spots were 5 Sentidos - Casa do Largo for an exceptional dinner, Rosa's Finest Home Cooking and Jardim dos Frangos for lunch.

Gorgeous location with streamlined boutique design. Nice to be a bit out of the action and right by the sea. Views from the room were fantastic. Service was good, but staff was spread thin, particularly poolside (but if my problems are about getting poolside cocktails, I don't really have problems in the bigger sense of things). Not too crowded, which was nice, and breakfast was excellent.

The perfect destination for a relaxing break with sun and beautiful scenery. The staff were very helpful at all times and provided a fantastic recommendation for an amazing local seafood restaurant. When there was an error with our airport transfer we were compensated with a bottle of champagne in our room - no complaints here!
It's a short walk into town but far enough out to not get bothered with the noise so a good location.
I've not given 5* because there were a few things in the room that could have been a bit better - plug sockets that didn't work, bath looked a bit old, towel replacement was a bit hit & miss....nothing major but I think when you're paying the price they charge it's the little things that matter.
Finally - the sushi there was really good. Didn't think I'd say that after a stay in Portugal but there we go!
