“Wonderful stay and perfect wedding”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

In early April we were fortunate enough to have our wedding at this lovely hotel. We had seventeen guests most of whom stayed in the hotel as well and we all shared an excellent experience. The rooms, from standard to junior suite, lived up to the brochure, very modern, well-appointed, comfortable and clean. The wedding went smoothly because the staff made sure we had everything we wished from last minute changes to the venue (due to weather) to ensuring the hotel flowers were in the same colours as ours.

Other than that, the hotel is very close to the centre of an attractive busy town, the facilities are good, public areas full of art and sculpture and the breakfast is excellent. There are multiple deals on rooms that make it excellent value for money. The staff were all helpful, friendly and prepared to go the extra mile.

We would recommend it as a wedding venue with options from small like ours to large scale (200).

Stayed here with my wife while taking part in a conference. It was mostly excellent apart from a non-existant view (see photo), a shortage of irons to borrow (we eventually got an iron but they didn't ever manage an ironing board) and a gym that opened late. These weren't major issues and the hotel overall was genuinely very good... you just start to expect more from this kind of standard of hotel.

The room was very clean and the maid service (twice per day) was excellent. There was a good selection available for breakfast and the lunches served as part of our event were very nice.

The pool and gym were both small although this seems to often be the case in hotels. Despite the lack of a view, the location is actually very good on the edge of the marina and just a gentle stroll from the centre of Cascais.

We had to leave early, before breakfast, on the day of our departure. We were served coffee in reception and were given a take-away breakfast box which we thought was a nice touch.

This was a very good hotel but if you can get as good a deal at the Miragem on the other side of Cascais, there seem to be more rooms with better views there and the pool and gym are much bigger.

Rooms: Perfectly clean, minimalistic high quality design and lovely beds.
Breakfast: I am celiac and no-dairy and I was offered cake and three kinds of bread, soy products, .... In short: Amazing.
Overall the experience was just excellent (and I do spend 50 nights a year in hotels and have seen a lot of good ones and bad ones).

Room Tip: Rooms on the lower floor (numbers 0xx) do have only small windows (due to the historic building, it...

On my first trip to Portugal, I had booked the Pousada for 3 nights, but I ended up staying an additional 2 nights because I found the hotel so excellent. If you aren't looking for a hotel right on the beach (and it was April), the location can't be beat. Built inside the old citadel with views of the port, the Atlantic Ocean and the center of Cascais right outside the walls of the citadel.

Although the citadel is hundreds of years old, the hotel is very modern. The staff is exceptionally helpful, especially Andrea and Ana at the front desk.

Cascais is a great base for sightseeing in Lisbon and its environs. I spent two days sightseeing in Lisbon (I don't think it is worthy of more) one visiting Sintra (either be a triathlete or have mountain goat in your DNA if you expect to walk to the top of the Moorish castle) and the other two just relaxing in Cascais, a charming town.

The only con I have regarding the Pousada is the strange elongated layout. However, I suspect it might have been necessary to keep the top of the hotel below the top of the citadel.

My room was near the heated pool on the second floor, the floor on which most of the rooms are situated. The pool offers a great view and was a great place to relax even though the temperature never got above 72. Had the pool restaurant not been closed for remodeling, the location would have been perfect since that is where breakfast normally is served. However, because of the remodeling it was being served in the bar in the lower lobby, and a couple of times I considered leaving a path of bread crumbs so I could find my way back to my room.

Cascais is the final stop on a train which runs from Lisbon (although not the main train station but connected to it by the metro). The train stops in a few areas worth visiting, like Belem which IMO is the #1 area of Lisbon to visit, and the Cascais station is less than a 10 minute walk from the hotel. So, for less than 5 Euros round trip you can take a short train ride into Lisbon to see the sights and then spend the rest of your time in a charming Portugese fishing village turned resort.

Highly recommended and easy on the wallet also!

We are here on our Iberian Peninsula tour and have motored down from Oporto this morning April 6th. Having used motorways all the way we arrive not overtired. This hotel has a key position a short walk from the main drag which has a very extensive variety of bars and restaurants, two Irish Bars, a couple of Indian restaurants, and many very good and non-ripoff local foodsters.
Anyways we are at the front of house, you need to get through the arch first and park up at reception, but there is no one to help you park, so do it yourself syndrome rules.
Very helpfully staff and very well appointed rooms with mega comfiest beds, but depending on the night keep the windows closed if marina side, as the karaoke bar is bait noisy unless its you in it.
We were unlucky to find the hotel undergoing some renovations in the kitchen which meant a restaurant was closed and breakfast not in the most desirable place.
Position, position, position, again wins here, but a better appreciation of guests could do with a slight upgrade.
Now off to Cadiz, see you there!

From the minute we booked in to the day we booked out we had non stop good service. We could not fault any of the staff the cleanliness of the hotel and any need was taken care of.
We were attending a wedding which was held at the hotel and everything was extremely well done.
The bride had organised this with the help of a local English wedding planner who spoke fluent portugese.
Wonderfully taken care of by the portugese registrar and a translater to make sure all the official business was carried through correctly, wonderfully set in the courtyard of one of the other buildings owned by the Hotel within the grounds of the Hotel.
Fabulous wedding venue, lots for people to do in Cascais the days before and after the wedding.

Room Tip: The 8 rooms our party had were of an excellant standard some had showers only. We had a couple of r...
