“Great site from which to explore”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Just returned from a family holiday at this campsite. We chose it as we wanted to visited Lisbon but also enjoy a family holiday with the kids. We booked with Eurocamp and the accomodation and service was to their usual high standard. George and Gina were the perfect hosts.

The site has 2 pools, one of which is a paddling pool for young children. It was a bit chilly when we visited but this didn't deter the kids! There is also a small park area and free WIFI near the pool and bar/restaurant area. It is about a 15 minute walk to Gunicho beach, part of which goes through a nature reserve amongst the sand dunes which was a nice walk and fun for the kids.

We hired a car for the week and drove to Sintra several times. We also drove to Belem and the oceanarium in Lisbon. When we visited the centre of Lisbon, we drove to Belem and took advantage of the free parking in the area. We then used day tickets on tram 15 to get to the centre of the city.

Not as good a campsite as we visited in France, Germany or the Netherlands but we had a great holiday and I would recommend this site to anyone wanting to explore the area.

Very quiet at the time of year so we virtually had our pick of pitches. Whilst pitching our tent we were informed that it was going to rain a lot but that it would stop by the next day. The gentleman was not wrong: it certainly did rain but it didn't rain for 36 hours! Sadly, our tent suffered so we opted to rent an on site bungalow. The receptionist was very accommodating transferring what we had paid for the camping pitch towards the cost of the bungalow. Whilst the bungalow was just about big enough for me, my husband and two year old daughter, it was capable of sleeping 7! Nevertheless, it was warm and dry. Facilities on site are good: what appears to be a brand new swimming pool and restaurant. However, again because of the time of year the pool was closed and the restaurant was clearly running down for the year. All in all a nice site.

We have just got back from a week in a keycap cabin on this site and thought it was a lovely location. The site is quite small, which we like. Our cabin was great, in a row with 6 other keycap homes and 6 eurocamp ones (which are the same company!) We had a wonderful courier, jean, who was very helpful and great with our girls. They couldn't wait to see her and tell her all about their day. There are also other cabins which i guess you book direct with the site and a few permanent tents. there are a lot of pitches for tents which are tucked away amongst the trees making them private and shady. There are also camper van pitches with electric.
There are 2 pools, a toddler and an adult one, which are great apart from the fact they don't open till 10am. a bit of a long wait for our kids! There is a shop and restaurant on site but the restaurant didn't look great and the shop has a limited selection and is around 3 times more expensive than the supermarket. The campsite staff are helpful and friendly and speak several languages well. The site is very well maintained with sprinklers watering the lawns every night. We had 1 night where a large group who had booked several cabins were chatting loudly will about 10.30pm and their kids were running around all the cabins, we mentioned it to reception and we weren't the only ones. The staff kept a close eye on them for the other night of their stay and they were much less bothersome. Also on site is a small play park for kids.
There is a village 5 minutes walk from the campsite which has 3 or 4 restaurants. We went to 1 twice and had fantastic food. Guincho beach is a good 10 to 15 minute walk, uphill on the way back. There are some lovely looking expensive restaurants here overlooking the sea, we didn't go there with children!
It is worth mentioning that everyone we spoke to on the site got lost trying to find it! Sat navs don't work particually well in portugal, the directions from keycap were wrong and signposts are sporadic.

the location of the camping is very good; it is the best way to reach Praia do Guincho (it is about 10 minutes walking) which is an amazing place... The camping area is big so we had really a lot of space for our tent! You have hot water for free, the restaurant is good (but it closes a bit early), the staff is really friendly and your tent will not became an oven!

Well, it is not that cheap, but it deserved the money I spent :)

Orbitur Guincho is a very good place if you want to enjoy Cascais and surrounding areas without spending too much.
The camping is located in a wonderful pine wood that shelters it from the hot summer sun and, thanks to its elevated position, benefits of lightly windy night that will allow you to rest peacefully.

Cascais is just 10 minutes by car (15 by bicycle) away and nice beaches are within walking distance.

Room Tip: Lot of trees, so just pick the place you like most for planting your tent!

Awesome place near Guincho beach. Lot's of great on site facilities. We stayed in the 5 bed bunglaow for two nights. The staff were always helpful and the beach was only a 15minute walk away. Taxi into Cascais was about €7.
