Casa Pergola exceeded all our expectations. This lovely home has been in the same family for four generations. It is a striking villa, exquisitely maintained down to the last detail. Fine art, striking antiques, complicated crown moldings yet still very comfotable and warm. The front gardens are beautiful and certainly most photographed! It is located in the center of Cascais with a short walk to shops, restaurants and of course, the beach.
As a guest, you are treated with every thoughtful amenity. A warm welcome, assistance with your bags to your antique filled room and modern, spotless bath. Port in the beautifully appointed drawing room between 5 and 8 pm. Breakfast is the lovely garden view dining room includes fruits, cereals, eggs, etc with a bonus of hot brioche! Great coffee. All included in room rate. (Our early season rate was 90 euros per night)
There is no tv or radio in the bedrooms but a large tv in the drawing room if you can't live without it.
The marble stairs lead to bedrooms on the second and third floor. Request a lower floor if stairs are a problem.
Our first day, we bought a bottle of white port(a lovely drink that we've never had before--served ice cold)and some fresh strawberries, apples, cheese and bread for "tea" in the garden pergola. Seeing our picnic, the staff arrived with a silver tray filled with port glasses and plates and napkins. It became an afternoon habit!!!
When the time came to say goodbye, the staff arranged for a van pickup to deliver us to Lisbon airport. The trip cost 35 Euros which was the best taxi ride rate we found during our entire trip!
This is a real treasure and we felt fortunate to have discovered it, thanks to Trip Advisor. Thanks to all the staff at Casa Pergola--it is obvious that they are dedicated to making your stay an enjoyable one.
