We live quite close by but decided to spend a quiet New Year's Eve at the hotel as we got a very good deal for room and breakfast and we even got a discount for dinner. We booked the standard double room which we knew would not have a sea view but it was quite a good size and had a small balcony. The decor was nice and they had bathrobes and slippers and Molton Brown bath amenities which was nice however the bathroom only had a bathtub (no separate shower) and as it was quite high I can see where older people might have trouble getting in and out of the tub, plus it was quite difficult to reach the taps without actually getting in the bathtub. Furthermore there are no hooks in the bathroom on which to hang the robes and the actual robes were very worn out with holes in them. We also found a few things quite peculiar:
-There were Nespresso coffee capsules in the room but no Nespresso machine (!)
-We tried to call the bar and the restaurant using the extension numbers provided in the hotel directory and it said on the phone "not permitted"
-We had been told the internet was free and when we called reception to get the password we were told, after waiting for ages for them to answer the phone, that they had to print out the password and would bring it to our room but they never did. We did not bother to ask for it again as it was getting late anyway and we were leaving the following day.
We had dinner at the hotel. We had been told that it would be a la carte but when we sat down there was a menu on each place setting with a few choices for each course but with a set price. We decided to give it a go anyway as we did have a discount and we were not sorry we did. The food was really good and served in large quantities. The English translation of the menu was appalling and we pointed this out to one of the waiters however it was not a problem for us as we are Portuguese. It is quite embarrassing for a 5 star hotel to make these kinds of mistakes. The staff was quite friendly but did not have a lot of knowledge about the food. They did offer to take up to our room 2 glasses of champagne at midnight which was nice.
Breakfast was quite good with a good selection of food with good quality however food ran out fast and took a long time to be replaced, especially the croissants which had to be baked and we had to wait for quite some time. They were warm and delicious when they arrived but it was quite a long wait. Some of the breakfast staff was not very efficient, they were very loud when they talked to the kitchen staff (kitchen is open and visible from the dining room) and they never cleared away the dirty dishes.
We did not use the spa or gym but the grounds are well kept and the view from the bar and restaurant is very nice over the ocean.
Overall it was a pleasant stay and we gave it a good classification due to the fact that we did get a very good deal. I am not sure we would have been as happy if we had paid the full price.

We spent a week in this hotel and we were very satisfied. The room we had was very good and was kept very clean.
The restaurant served excellent food and the service was perfect.
When you don't mind walking or cycling it is great place to stay. Otherwise you need a car.
But it is easy to get a taxi.

Stayed at the hotel following a few days in Lisbon. We found it really relaxing with great views out to sea. The staff could not be more helpful. Our room was very large (as was the bathroom) with a balcony and was very clean. We ate in the restaurant twice and was very impressed by the quality of the food. The breakfast was the same. It was a bit out of town but we didn't mind walking. Would have loved to have stayed longer and would certainly return.

Room Tip: We paid extra for the sea views but it was certainly worth it.

The hotel is excelent and you need a car to stay in it.
It's very clean, the breakfast is very complete, the spa has sauna and indoor pool, the gym is nice, and you have the Atlantic ocean at your feet.
It's you right you can't swim in front of the hotel, but there is beaches close to it.
I say you need a car beacuse besides the hotel restaurant and the Furnas in the other side of the road you have no other choice at walking distance. So if you like to take your own water bottle to the room be aware it's at least 1,5 km to the Repsol gas station nearby. You will a need a car to sightseeing Portugal anyway.
I would stay in this hotel again without a doubt!

Went touring after a few days in Lisbon and stayed here for one night. Lovely location near the sea, you do need a car. Very colourful hotel, relaxed atmosphere. Excellent, spacious room. First class food. Our sea bream was well cooked and served. Great breakfast choice. Beautiful dining rooms and public areas. Friendly staff. Went for a walk along sea road, not great , road busy

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are clearly better, not sure if worth the extra though
