Stayed here with my daughter for 3 nights. The hotel is in perfect positionas it is only a 5 min walk to marina and 10 min walk to centre of cascais. The hotel is pleasant and clean but a basic 4 star. The rooms are quite large but very dark with hardly any lighting making it hard to do make up and hair!! The towels were awful quality, hard, thin and very washed out!! Nice large balcony and good bathroom. The gardens are nice but pool isn"t very big would probably get very crowded in high season. It would make a perfect place to stay to explore Cascais and surrounding areas. The train runs from Cascais to Lisbon along the coast and you can also walk along the coast to Estoril in one direction and Guincho beach in the other. Would stay here again as good value for money.

This is an excellent hotel. It is in a perfect location, on the ocean front and a pleasant 10 minute walk away from the town centre. Rooms are spotless with comfortable beds and the hotel is quiet and peaceful. Staff are friendly and helpful, bar prices are reasonable. The buffet breakfast is very good with a wide choice of continental and cooked options, dinner is also buffet style and offers good value for money. Free wi-fi is available in public areas but chargeable in rooms - this is the only area the hotel lets itself down. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in the town of Cascais. It is well worth walking along the seafront promenade towards Estoril where you will find many cafes and restaurants with a fantastic view. Lisbon is a 30 minute train ride away and is well worth a visit, fares are around €5 return. Highly recommended.

We stayed here in March 2012 as an RCI trade. It’s one of the best RCI deals we have experienced. This is a perfectly nice tourist class hotel made special by a great ocean front location just outside of the very nice town of Cascais, and an amazing view. This is not a resort. The staff is friendly and helpful. The property is very clean and safe, and quiet when we stayed. Our room was quite comfortable: good beds, good maid service, sitting area and small dining table, good TV, nice balcony with that view (we were on the 5th floor, ocean side), very nice updated bath -- not large, and a kitchenette that we really enjoyed for breakfast and snacks. Unlike another reviewer, the lighthouse did not bother us and I recall we had no problem closing the curtains. Much is provided, but there was no coffee maker of any kind. I bought an espresso stove top pot (the big grocery store is a bit of a hike across town); I'd recommend bringing a French press or something like that, which I would have bought but couldn't find. The buffet breakfasts and dinners are fine and handy if you want to stay in, which we did one rainy night, but you should plan on eating most midday and evening meals out in the area’s terrific and very reasonable restaurants.

We spent a week and did not have a car. We took a taxi form the Lisbon airport – well worth the price ( I'm not sure but I think it was about 60 Euros.) The town is a 10+ minute walk. Just out the front is a beautiful rocky shoreside public walk: to the left is the town; to the right is really beautiful coast with some fun eating places a mile or so away. The easy to use and frequent train to Lisbon is a 20 minute walk to the other side of Cascais, the same for the bus station where we took the buss to Sentra – a very worthwhile and beautiful day trip. You certainly might enjoy having a car, but we were fine. Cascais is a beautiful, old resort town that was fun to get to know. We stayed a week, then took the train to Lisbon and spent the last night in one of that city’s big old hotels, and we were then an easy taxi ride to the airport.

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view from about the third floor or higher. The other side faces a park, and that m...

Vila Gale in Cascais is an excellent hotel. It is situated in a beautiful location - in front of the Atlantic Ocean and beside an exquisite park. The staff were friendly/professional, the facilities including the pool, food etc. were wonderful - clean, good service etc. Please consider choosing this hotel over others - you won’t be disappointed.

Room Tip: If possible, choose a room above the 3rd floor for a better view of the park and/or ocean.

The rooms facing the sea on the 6th floor are the greatest. Too bad for the lighthouse that kept letting light into the room. There is no chance to close the light of the big windows. Once we fell asleep it was ok,.. but weird when waking up in the night..
The rooms are huge. Loved the cleaness. Very quiet place. the breakfast was ok. not too much choice but it was a quiet season. The pool is ok. The garden is big around it.
The staff is very kind and helpful. The parking is free which is great considering all in the center are payed and this VilaGale is a couple minutes walk to town. The garden next to the hotel is worth jogging time! We loved it

Room Tip: choosing a view to the ocean is nice, but the view to the garden also and at least the lighthouse do...

This hotel is on a quite sea side road, very close to the bay of Cascais, 10 minute walk. Close by there is a Lighthouse, a museum, and a beautiful Garden. It also has a nice swimming pool and garden.
The service was good although dinner at the hotel was only ok, the main courses were very good but the desert wasn't very good. Breakfast was good with plenty og choice.

Room Tip: Chose a room with sea view!

Welcoming and helpful staff, nice location just out of town but within easy walking distance and sufficient parking to have no problem parking our hire car each day.

Cascais is at the end of a railway line about 35-40 minutes from Lisbon making the town (and this hotel) a suitable place to stay for city visits to Lisbon, yet in a pleasant coastal area.

Wifi was available in our room at a cost (it's free in the public areas), the price was reasonable buying one-week access, although coverage in our particular room was quite patchy - good in some parts of the room and poor in others! Our room had a balcony and we had a pleasant view over the top of the pool area and out to sea.

We stayed B&B only so had the buffet breakfasts each morning which were OK. Plenty of options, if a bit chaotic round the buffet area itself at busy times.

We had dinner in the hotel on a couple of occasions (one night it was barbecue night) and again these were OK, buffet-style again, and whilst there was no real cause for complaint we enjoyed our meals out far more.

The only real negatives from our point of view was water that pooled on our balcony and didn't flow away through the drainage channel, and that the area around the pool, whilst technically very clean (like the rest of the hotel) in general, had a surface of smallish tiles between which significant quantities of dust and grit built up which quickly coated damp feet. Not an issue for sunbathers, but a bit annoying for swimmers.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay but would probably look for somewhere with a better pool area next time.
