“Loved Cascais and the hotel”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

Junior suite = king sized double in one room and 2 put up beds in lounge for children. Overall comfortable although had the children been teenagers it may have been different. Pool and facilities are excellent and very clean and great that the hotel provides beach towels daily. Hotel is 30 min stroll from cascais centre but the hotel does provide free half hourly courtesy bus. Several good restaurants within 15 mins of the hotel and as others have said, a great patisserie over the road. We would certainly return. The resort is ideally located for visiting Lisbon (the oceanarium is a must) by train (4€ return) and Sintra by bus/taxi. We had been to the Algarve before but never this part of Portugal. For a family holiday this wins every time.

This was our home for two weeks a couple a weeks back, and a place where you can call 'home' has got to be OK. Though like all homes they're not exactly perfect.
We paid extra for a sea view and what a lovely sea view it is from the Hotel. And worth every cent. However in our room, the air conditioning wasn't working as expected which meant an uncomfortable first night. We complained to the hotel management and we got moved. But the second room didn't have a full view of the sea (though it did have a great view of the pool that our 5 year loved - no pleasing everyone). We complained again, and we moved for the last time to a much bigger room and a full view of the sea which was perfect. So top marks to the hotel staff.
It was two pools, one indoor, plus it has a lovely lawn with welcome shade giving mature trees. This was great as it meant that you weren't confined to the swimming pool area. It also meant that you could totally relax and while away the afternoons in comfort.
The hotel does provide free wifi, but only for the first 30 minutes. Though the quality wasn't great and if I was staying that the hotel on business I would have been annoyed by that. But I was there on holiday so it didn't matter to me. More and more hotels are providing free wifi, but providing a free system to guests that meets their needs is a bigger undertaking. This is something that not all hotels will be to provide.

All in all this was a very comfortable hotel and for a family it was great. It's well situated, within easy reach of Cascais and Lisbon. And great staff too - they made you feel at home; I'd easily come back here.

A nice hotel and resort, just a 30 minute walk from the center of Cascais. Right on the coast the walk to the center of Cascais is worthwhile. If you don't want to walk, a taxi will take you there for 5 euro. Cascais is a nice place with a wide range of restaurants, little shops, a small port and a modern marina.
The Pestana hotel is comfortable, not too extravagant, well suited for families with children. Service is good, the people are nice, like most Portuguees. The restaurant is average and serves a buffet each night. In that respect you can do much better within a 10 minutes radius along the coast line. Several restaurants, some offering a spectacular view.

just back from the Pestana in Cascais and felt the need to share the good news.. it was a return visit, having stayed there a few years ago and had been so impressed that I had recommended it to quite a number of people (always a little nervous when advising others in case things have changed) but glad to say that if anything its even nicer. Its a solid 4 star hotel, nothing too fancy but good facilities, very comfortable rooms and lovely pool/garden area. great location, a really nice walk into Cascais (courtesy bus also available from hotel to town centre and beautiful beach) We were in a group of three couples and two teenagers and all of us agreed that we will definately return in the future, this is in no small part due to the staff, while the hotel is lovely, the staff are the jewel in its crown. From the time we arrived at reception, EVERY member of staff we had contact with was friendly , professional and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. It has to be said that in general the Portugese people are lovely and make Portugal a very nice country to visit.

Room Tip: in our group we had one double, one superior and one suite, all were good but the superior double wa...

We traveled to Portugal for two weeks and always met a warm welcome and a marvelous hospitality of the Portuguese. We love this country with all our hearts. Wonderful and romantic Lisbon and Oporto, Sintra and Braga, Coimbra and many other cities struck us with its history, sights and unique culture of the Portuguese people, which those who have wondered with great pleasure that tell their impressive story.
Our two-week trip to Portugal was completed in Cascais. For relaxation on the coast, we chose the hotel "Pestana Cascais" and did not regret it. The hotel is very nice with comfortable rooms (apartments). We have stayed in many European hotels, but this hotel has become one of the most favorite! There is a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, Turkish bath and sauna, sports hall, nursery, quite a large park. The restaurant serves delicious breakfasts, here you can have lunch and dinner. Only one lack - a beach far away (30 minutes), but this is not a problem, because every 30 minutes scheduled “shuttle" (minibus) go there, and after 10 minutes you're on the beach in the center of Cascais.
The hotel has a wonderful, friendly, responsive and highly qualified staff - best of all the hotels where we stayed in our two-week trip to Portugal. First of all we would like to thank the managers Lara, Paola, Patricia for a very careful and precautionary attitude towards us, help in solving all our problems.
Of course, if we once again decide to go to Portugal, you will certainly stay at this hotel.
We will recommend the hotel to all our friends, because after our enthusiastic stories, many of them are going to relax in this country.

With great respect and appreciation for the wonderful holiday at the hotel

This was our second time in Cascais. On this occasion we stayed in the pestana for 8 days in the middle of July. The Hotel was nice without being spectacular. Rooms were carpeted which is unusual. We had a sea view room and as a result the Balcony had the sun all day. There was no problem getting sun beds at any time of the day and Guests can put their beds in the Garden area for additional space if required and to avail of the shade under the numerous trees. It was approx 25 mins walk to Cascais Town Centre through residential areas or 35mins along the coast. The courtesy bus whilst very handy finished around 6pm although Taxis in the evening back to the Hotel cost less than €5 There was a supermarket and a bakery across the road. The hotel was very quiet in the evenings and the bar closed before midnight. Cascais itself is a very nice area with lots of good restaurants which were very reasonably priced. Average cost of meal for 2 with starters, mains, water and a bottle of wine was €55. There was very little entertainment apart from the square where the same buskers performed most nights or O'Luains Irish Bar where music was on at weekends. There is another Irish ? Bar called O'Neills and whilst it has a great view there is nothing Irish about it and to be honest you wouldnt want to spend too long in it .
All in all we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday and would certainly consider staying again in the Pestana if we return.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view room on 5th or 6th floor if possible.

We stayed at this hotel August 3rd to 5th inclusive. The room was great, with an amazing view of the pool and the Ocean. The staff were great reserving us seaside seating at the restaurants of our choice. The walk to town was enjoyable and the view was a killer. We were very happy to have ended our vacation with some downtime by a wonderful pool at this hotel We would definitely recommend Pestana Cascais
