Booked to stay in Lisbon, we travelled to Cascais for my husband's birthday lunch. We were blessed with the weather and having booked well in advance, we secured a window table. The view is stunning! The menu is heavily slanted for fish, which you would expect for the name and location. We ordered the shellfish platter for two and it was ENORMOUS! Dressed crab, over a dozen large tiger prawns, spider crab legs, whelks and barnacles. The barnacles were a new menu item for us - someone actually looked at these revolting items clamped to a rock and thought...hmmm, they look tasty! Husband ate the lot! Then four large oysters on ice. After a short break, the hot items arrived. Clams in lemon, garlic and butter. Prawns in olive oil and garlic. Mussels with peppers and onions. The house wine, a good choice with such rich food, was just 12 Euros a bottle. We had two deserts and the usual pan and butter cover and the whole lot was under 60 Euros. How much would that cost in the UK? If you are in Lisbon, get the train from Cais de Sodre and go to this restaurant. If you are in Cascais...you are lucky to have this restaurant on your doorstep!
