Description: Ate on the terrace in April 2011 and it was delicious. We shared a seafood rice (25euros) which we were told would feed two people. It was fantastic and easily the best paella we ate on our trip and would feed three people especially if you have bread and a starter. This was the best meal we had during our 3 weeks in Spain and Portugal. One of our party spilt a little sauce on her top and the waiter came to her aid immediately with a spray to fix her blouse. Fantastic service, setting, price. Wish I could eat there again.

“Good for the lads on a Golf Trip.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013 via mobile

Our second year in Cascais for our annual 12 man golf trip. We made the John Bull our headquarters and the staff were really great. The head man had even played golf earlier in the day at Estoril and watched us tee off. Beers are well kept,Kilkenny particularly excellent and out side eating eating in the square when the weather is fine. The day we ate there it was windy so we ate upset airs. Fish and meat equally good. John Bull was well located for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it!! The Judge. Guernsey. FROGS 25th annual tour. Mike Vaudin

“Lovely food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

we had sat outside but it was quite windy and chilly so we asked if they had seats inside. Lovely section upstairs got seated by the window. Amazing prawns in garlic olive oil to start used all the bread to soak it up! Grilled whole sea bass for main, de-boned at the table very professional job. Was quite pricey versus other restaurants in the area but the food did stand up to the extra few quid. Nice bottle of wine with good advice on the choice. Very helpful waiter.

“Excellent Fish”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2013

We were all feeling nostalgic for fish and chips but were advised against it. Instead, we were steered toward the fish that were fresh--the Sea Bream--it was light and wonderful and very fresh. The vegetables were a bit overcooked but a good amount of them. We had the Casal Garcia Vinho Verde and loved it--a great wine at lunch. One of our party had the sardines and proclaimed them the best so far--although we were told that they are fresh in the summer--months without an "r". In Portugal, they keep setting down dishes at the beginning and each one they set down, you pay for--so if you don't want olives or cheese or fish spread or bread, be sure to say No Thank You before they set it down.

“Cockroaches”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2013

I went into John Bull for a beer. Restaurant is normally packed in the main square along with several other "English" restaurants. While waiting for the restroom, found numerous cockroaches crawling around the place (in the main drinking area). I was surprised that nobody else seemed to see or care about them in the dimly lit bar. I'm glad I only got a beer.
