“An artistic house for art”

Very good. Worth going even for a coffee if not for the exhibitions. The architecture project has the signature of one of the most talented and well know Portuguese architecture.

“Great building”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

Very interesting building, but I am sorry to say that the artwork simply wasn't my cup of tea.
It tended to be rather moody and symbolic, with hints of violence and discomfort amidst the colour and the intense brushstrokes.

I liked the tapestry in the foyer.

“Great time out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013

Winning architecture houses a one-artist museum. Just a small--but stimulating--selection of Paula Rego's work from 1960 to the 1990s when we were there. Free!

“Great art museum of one of Portugal's best artists, who now lives in the UK.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

Why is this in the 'shopping' category when it should be in the 'attractions' category? If you like art this is a must see. It's a spectacularly designed museum dedicated to Lisbon native Paula Rego, a brilliant artist who made the UK her home some time ago. Admission is free, it has a lovely cafe and a great shop full of inexpensive and good quality 'Rego' items. It's opposite a beautiful park and walking distance into town.

“Made us appreciate Paula Rego more.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

I didn't think I was a fan of Paula Rego's but this range of work, beautifully presented, made me appreciate her more. Will look out for more of her work in future. Free entry, fascinating building and a good cafe.
