“A bit disappointing for the price”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

My first impression of this restaurant was its very nice decor and beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean. Really beautiful. They were full to capacity and therefore the service suffered. For the price, this shouldn't happen. Suffice it to say that we arrived at 8:30 and our starters didn't arrive before 9:30 and this only after one waiter proudly unveiled a flaming fish main course to us that supposedly was for another table. Our mains were sea bream baked in salt for 55 euros for 2 and paella for 2 at 52 euros. The paella was over dry but probably would have been good if it hadn't been rewarmed?? It was chock full of seafood but the mussels were inedible for being dried out as were the chicken pieces. So at 220 euros for the 4 of us it was not the greatest meal and I'm positive it could ave been a lot better.

“Amazing Location and Great Food”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Our experience at Furnas Do Guincho was worth the drive out of Lisbon. The location was stunning and we timed our reservation (essential if you want a ocean-side table) to see the sun set. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. If we make it back to that part of Europe, I will definitely order the bean seafood stew my husband got. It was all around a perfect evening!

“Excellent - and much better value than Porto de Santa Maria”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

Great restaurant, wonderful views and much better value than Porto Santa Maria. Highly recommended. Make sure to get a table outside when the weather permits.

“Beautiful traditionally prepared fish”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

Four of us dined here recently and very much enjoyed all our dishes. You are served starters you can opt out of, but we had the prawns and they were yummy. The swordfish, monkfish kebab and grouper were all lovely too. Nice setting by the sea, service excellent.

“One of the best!”
Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

It's been almost 20 years I eat in this restaurant, usually 1 or 2 times per month.

The location is superb, right next to the ocean with a fantastic view.

The food is quite good, especially the fish (try a fish cooked "ao sal" - ask your waiter).

Service usually is quite good and the waiters are nice.

The only negative thing I have to say is that you should be careful with the appetizers they try to put on your table. They don't tell you the prices, and they could add up considerable to your bill.

Prices are generally on the high side (€30-50 per person), but it is worth it.
