We ate here on our first night in the town. Food was average and wine was good. Service initially slow after they persuaded you in from the street but no complaints.

Last year on our first visit to Cascais we dropped in to the Chequers for a beer and a burger so this year on our second visit to Cascais we called in again for a Beer and a Burger. It was very busy so only stayed for a beer. Nice atmosphere. Hosts very good, but was surprised at the beer prices, but hey ho we were on holiday!! The most expensive place we have found in Cascais for a bottle of beer!(so far)

We went to Estoril and Cais Cais for the morning. What a great holiday town Cais Cais is. Must be just great in the summer.

We were their in winter so the place was not at all busy and I guess this might explain why our experience was good. We had a very good meal at Chequers and also had a long chat with the entertaining owner/manager who made sure we were well looked after.

When I saw the tiny kitchen in which the food is prepared I can quite understand why they have occasional service problems. Working in that tiny space when it gets really busy in summer must be simply hectic.

We will definitely go back if we are ever in Cais Cais again

Near Palm Tree and John Bull. Quite similar options and all. Hard to say which is best. In the peak season all is great.

We stopped in a pub and were informed they did not serve food, but that they'd escort us to their "partner" so off we walked to Chequers. We were offered a 10% discount for the trouble! We sat outdoors and opened a multi-lingual menu, deciding on cheeseburgers for 3 of us and pasta for one. The food was served quickly, was very good, and the waiter happily re-figured our check when the 10% discount was "overlooked". The men liked it because there were at least 8 TVs showing various sporting events. The women liked it because it was near several tempting shops. Chequers is one of MANY restaurants in this area of Cascais, but it was a good experience for us.
