This is a very modern almost new hotel near the local cathedral and small shopping area. The rooms are very large by European standards and comfortable. The bathrooms are large and well equipped also. Batalha is only 5 miles from Fatima and 30 miles from Tomar. Both are "must see" towns in this area.

We booked this hotel because we had problems finding one in the area that fit our budget. It is relatively new (think opened in 2009). The hotel, as others we found in Portugal, has what I would call “ultra-modern” decor – black hallways, but with marvelous open sitting spaces with very comfortable furniture. Batalha does not seem to be more than a one stop, see the magnificent cathedral, place for most tourists. rather than a destination. Leira just north and the coastal cities west offer much more. This may explain the very reasonable rates for a very nice facility. We stayed two nights, using Batalha as our base while exploring the surrounding area. The hotel is slightly outside of downtown, about a 5-10 minute walk to the Cathedral (and “downtown”). We had a junior suite – actually a very large room, very nicely appointed with a magnificent view of the cathedral. While friendly, the staff at times seemed somewhat disorganized and uniformed, but always helpful and accommodating. My wife enjoyed a massage at the spa – great service at bargain prices. We ate in the restaurant one evening because we did not wish to drive out (and did not wish to eat anywhere in Batalha). Service was excellent, the prices reasonable. The food was well prepared but ordinary. All said and done, we would stay here again.

The rooms are great and beds so comfortable!! The vuew of our room was the Batalha Monastery, which is just beautifull! The food of the restaurant, both breakfast and meals, was just superb. One of the best I have eaten in hotels.

The only thing we both dind´t like was the massagist who kept complaining it was hard to do that kind of massage and at the end rushed us because the spa was about to close... It was the spa receptionist that booked the massage for that time... you pay to relax and they stress you..

But we still recomend it! And maybe they have changed the spa staff already ;)
