“A gem - friendly and comfortable”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

This is a lovely, simple hotel. The rooms are not fancy, but comfortable and great value. The staff were wonderful - expertly managing four Australians with limited Portuguese (and our apparently odd accents). The bar area was comfortable and a great place to sit and plan our trip. It is a 2 minute (or less) walk to the magnificent monastery. The breakfast room was light - again simple but perfectly adequate.
The staff even took the time to debate and then recommend the best local restaurant for roast chicken (it was fantastic).
The car park was underground and a bit tight/tricky, but we managed without any dramas.
We got far more than we expected for the price paid.

This is an excellent hotel to vist the Monastry - they have parking athough you have to bring your luggage up, it has no direct access to the Hotel. It does not have a restaurant but plenty local. Breakfast was in the rafters and included in the price. Excellent for a stop and view hotel but not for a long stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the Church Bell!

This is a hidden gem we stumbled on while visiting the monastery. The staff could not have been nicer insisting on carrying our bags up to the second floor and giving helpful suggestions for dinner. breakfast is included and is the average cold spread. The room and bed were comfortable and quiet. With the tourist coming to see the monastery, most of the hotels were pricey so we were thrilled to find the Residencial. A good value!

We stayed at the hotel a few days on a motoring tour from the Algare to Santiago do Compestelo Spain as a covenient base to visit the magnificent Batalha Cathedral, Fatima and the coast. The hotel rooms are the best three star we have ever stayed in[Normaly use 4*min].Our view from the room was across the road to the Cathederal ,the same view as from the breakfast room. The reception bar / lounge is comfortable and of at least four star rating. When we asked for tea ,a tray promptly appeared with biscuits at no cost .Some under cover car parking is provided with some skill needed to use it but with other space available. The whole place is spotlessly clean the staff excellent and we changed our route to stay there again on our return journey, ALL THIS FOR LESS THAN 50eurous for a double room @ breakfast included.
