“An OK hotel”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

The most recommendable feature about this hotel is definitely its central location. That alone makes the hotel worth staying at, although not for long stretches of time. The hotel itself is cute and has a cozy, home-like look about its interior, but I have to say that I didn't find my room all that comfortable due to the dim lighting and the rather uncomfortable bed. I couldn't use the wardrobe since as I started sliding one of its doors open, it went out of place and I had to push it inside so it doesn't fall out on me.
The room and the bathroom were clean and the breakfast at the hotel was quite OK.

Our sat nav took us here en route between the Algarve and Oviedo. It was easy to find and very well located for an easy walk into the pedestrianised old town for dinner. The room was clean and comfortable, although not ultra modern! The atmosphere seemed gloomy due to lots of established trees in the grounds which could do with being cutback as they block the light.
The breakfast was as good as any in other more expensive hotels we have stayed at in Portugal and Spain, and the total of 70 euros including free parking in the grounds was good vale for money.

The hotel is very well located in the heart of Viseu. The hotel may be older but is very well maintained. The pool and garden area is very private although it faces a busy street. You are in walking distance of all the sites and commercial areas. Staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was extensive with many choices.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the pool/garden area as other side faces parking lot and street.

This older traditional hotel is very close to the city centre, yet a quiet and peaceful location very close to city centre in its own grounds. The rooms were clean and spacious with good bathrooms, furnished in traditional style. Parts are looking a bit "tired" and old fashioned, but of no problems, unless you expecting the height of luxury! Breakfast room was spacious and pleasant, with plenty of choice, but not the best I have seen.

The staff were pleasant and helpful.

The hotels good location very close to city centre for exploring on foot makes it a good choice, but don't expect the height of luxury standards, apart from that, I would stay here again.

An older hotel in an excellent location in the center of the city within easy walking distance of a park and public buildings. The rooms are clean, large and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a large selection of items to satisfy every taste.

Located right where you want to be in the center of it all . the hotel is clean with old charm and modern amenities to bring you into the modern age. the food was great but we preferred to wander into the local coffee shops and restaurants. not a perfect hotel but the charm overcomes any defects one might find i am so looking forward to returning in the future yes Lisbon and Sintra are great places to see and to be seen. but Viseu has captured my heart and the Grao Vasco Hotel is where i wanna stay when in Viseu

We came to Grao Vasco after a week at the ultra-modern Sheraton in Lisbon. It was a little bit of a shock. It's an older hotel for sure. The decor is dark and there is a lot of wood. We were with a group of about 20 people to attend a wedding. All of the rooms are the same size, but the furniture is all a little different. The food at breakfast was good. And it is in a GREAT area. I absolutely loved Viseu. I found the staff to be basically helpful...not really extending themselves in any way. Bring an iron...they don't have any. And the housekeeping staff (although great and fast in the morning) leave by 5 so if you need something pressed, make prior arrangements. This was a huge issue for our group as we arrived around 6pm and had to leave for the wedding at 9 am the next morning and no way to press our clothes! As I said, it's old and dated, but the place is SPOTLESS...it is impeccably clean...and for this reason alone, I would stay again.
