Having visited Figueira da Foz frequently over the past 30 years, I can attest that there are many modest restaurants providing honest Portuguese fare. Abrigo da Montanha, was destroyed by fire some years ago and meticulously rebuilt in something resembling its original building, is something a bit different and worth a try. It has recently (1 Aug 2011) reopened under the new management of a 'restaurant college'.
The cooking is of a high standard, with presentation and service to match. The wine list is also reasonable too.
Although a little bit more expensive than most restaurants in or near Figueira, the fantastic views and classy surroundings more than compensate for the modest extra cost.
Dont forget to ask for a window table when booking.
