Here we found a nice enviroment with good food and good wines. It is a restaurant where you can chose diferent type of "tapas" with very good quality. The deserts are also very good. Situated down town. Price very acceptable.

It might not be the fanciest venue (within an apartment building) but the inside is well decorated with wall lined with wine boxes. But this restaurant is not about environment but mostly about food and drinks. There are like 5-30 different portions, with eggs, enchidos and meat cooked in creative ways (farinheira with pear, roasted goat cheese, morcela with apple, just to name a few). The advantage of small portions is that one can make a feast of flavors. The wine list is not gigantic, but includes some very nice picks. Take the waiters' advices: their are efficient and it is easy to see that they love want they do. Try the home-brewed beer for something different. With kids, with friends or a-deux, it's already been like the fifth visit, I am sure of many more to come.

This was the best of Portuguese cuisine, but in bite sized portions. From pork belly, to squid, to beef in cheese sauce, coupled with a great wine list, we thoroughly enjoyed our very long lunch. The staff helped us with the selection of tapas, which came out at intervals, allowing us to enjoy the food hot. Excellent value for money.

The place is good, the quality of food is good, but the wine was not ok, probably it was just bad choice, and the portions are so small that I was hungry at the end of the dinner.

I have visited Dux on three occasions, always with my girlfriend.
We mostly ate four to five "tapas" and tried to sample as much of the menu as possible in each visit. The menu consists of simple meals with adequate prices for the most part.
We enjoyed the homely potato chips and accompanying fresh sauce, the prawns in a savoury tomato sauce (although the second time around the sauce was watery) and the cheese pastry.

However, the "pata negra" ham, despite the hearty serving, was dry, the scrambled eggs with "farinheira" were moist, but had unappetizing chunks of fat from the sausage and the fruit and blood sausage ("morcela") pairing is a nice idea, but was a bit bitter and uninteresting (better quality blood sausage would have helped).

On one occasion I took a gander at their Caesar salad, which was very poor: a bunch of crudely cut ingredients tossed into a plate, without any "connecting" element.

The staff was very friendly and helpful; suggesting courses and helping to choose wine. They did struggle a bit in the last two times, due to the restaurant being full, but overall good.

The atmosphere fits well to the relaxed and casual theme their food also reflects, with low light and mordern-rustic decoration.

My biggest disappointment with the restaurant is their fluctuating quality; I have no idea if between visits they had a change in kitchen staff, but of my three visits, only once did I like the food.
