Modern, clean hotel. Room was on street side and was very noisy.

Visited Coimbra during our 12 day vacation in Portugal based on an episode of Rick Steve's travel show. We were quite disappointed. Coimbra was hectic, run down and didn't offer a lot to see other than the university's stunning library (worth the 9 euro admission). I would definitely skip a visit to Coimbra. A visit to the nearby town of Figueira da Foz which has a simply beautiful beach.

Ancient building, the shower was moving around alone (loose fittings or something), bad lighting, the bed was unconfortable, with a deformed mattress, had a scenic view of a backdoor alley with all kinds of junk. All this with a 4-star hotel price.
Had a MUCH better stay at Ibis everywhere and anywhere, for a much better cost.

Right in the center, big room and very clean, furniture a little bit old.

Parking is 7.5 EUR/day (outside, on the street is 0.5 EUR/hour, from 8PM to 8AM is free if you find a free spot).

Good breakfast, nice staff.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms get less noise from the street.

Our room was No. 211 and it was a very large room facing the Street. There was no street noise when the window blinds were lowered. There were two comfortable beds, a very large closet, a long desk with plenty of storage and a comfortable chair. The room was carpeted with a light brown carpet. There were two cane chairs at the window with a round table between them. There was a large TV set. The bathroom was quite large with a double sink, a bathtub, and a bidet.

There was an adequate breakfast buffet that opened at 7 am. The bread was very good.

The location of the hotel was good and it was a 15 to 20 minute walk to downtown.

Decadent hotel. Bad decoration, old stained carpets, no wifi (broken for 2 days and one old computer in the business center for all guests at the hotel), 70's vibe. Old sheets. Stay away! I show the comments before.. Well I have to say, we found everything OK.
Of course this is not a hotel at the beach or not a modern one with pool etc, but if you come to Coimbra to visit the few sights, it is a good choice.
We had a superior room, nice and big bathroom, we were satisfied. It is really good they park your car, and the hotel is just a few minutes walk from the city centre.
Maybe we could book it with luck, but we found the pirce of the superior room really reasonable. In Porto or Lisboa we had to pay much more for this level.

Room Tip: Superior room is worth...

This is a basic business hotel. The rooms are very clean. There is a nice big screen TV and the beds are comfortable. The walk to the historic part of town was easy and short. The staff at the front desk recommended an excellent restaurant.

Enjoyed our stay. Would stay again.

Have to pay for wireless, but the cost of the room is so low. Also, the wi-fi wasn't working and the staff gave me a free voucher.
