“superb”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Exquisite and friendly service from a highly professional staff. The two dinners we had were remarkable (and remarkably expensive) from beginning to end. Dishes like the lobster risotto, the suckling pig and black pig, the duck, et al. are creative without being silly or weird. The cheese plate is a great introduction to Portuguese cheeses. The wine list is amazing.

“Flawless in form but not in essence.”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Arcada has all the key ingredients for greatness -- warm greeting, friendly service, a wine list to please, great portioning, presentation, textures, colors. But lacks the certain sparkle and spirit. Risotto done right. Freshness of seafood is unquestionable. Creme brulee executed and paired perfectly with mint icecream. Quality (not age) of butter questionable, which is a shame. Also chocolate dessert left a less than pleasing aftertaste, perhaps from the quality of chocolate used.

“An excellent restaurant in a lovely setting”
Reviewed May 18, 2013

A lovely restaurant for a special occasion, perhaps the staff are over-attentive, but that is a minor fault. we had the cheapest menu and were very satisfied with it.

“Blissfull Romantic Dinner!”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

When I got married a relative offered me and my husband a night stay at the Quinta das Làgrimas and a dinner at this historical and romantic place.

Well, I've got to confess that I hate to pay high prices to eat out. I also used to consider utterly ridiculous all the fuss around gourmet restaurants, with all those artfully decorated tiny dishes floating in big design china plates, so when I received this gift I thought it to be a great opportunity to test my preconceptions. What the hell, it's a michelin-star rated restaurant!

We went for the Pedro e Inês Menu, and were utterly defeated by class, atmosphere, simpathy and a scrumptious menu. All dishes are a party flavour going on in your mouth, from the starters to dessert, every one of them accompanied by a specific wine, sou you can savour the best of each dish. It's the combination - sometimes odd at first sight - between flavours, and then of the flavours with the wine, the explaining narrative that precedes each plate, to the romantic and quiet atmosphere and the languid rythm between dishes that conquers you... take your time, this is slow food at its best.
I was also amazed with my ability to waltz through 8 different dishes and wines and not feel stuffed - actually you feel like you could go on forever and then, the Créme bruléé 'happens' and you know - so sad - it's over with a bang.

It's not cheap, but it's worthy. Feel free to roam through the gardens before - if it's dinner - or after - if it's lunch. They're ancient, romantic and a very special tribute to a lgendary portuguese love story.

“Ordinary food under the guise of a Michelin star”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

It turned out that the restaurant has no Michelin star, which makes sense. The food was so ordinary and disappointing and the staff not very nice. In fact they were understaffed. Of course only three tables were filled. Stay away!
