We had a fabulous holiday at Casa Sulo and the kids loved it. We enjoyed nightly strolls around the village and the gorgeous garden. We saw our first ever shooting star and enjoyed ordering food from Ken and Sue. Loved it - thanks for the hospitality...
We have just arrived back from our week stay in casa sulo it truly is breath taking, the scenery and surroundings are so rural and natural you feel so privileged to be part of it. Sue and ken are very welcoming and warm friendly host nothing is too much trouble for them. You are situated in a lovely village at the top of the mountain called alombada were friendly hard working locals live they are all very warm and greated us if we saw them out. The beaches are amazing in avaro as we hired a car we took advantage of trips out to markets and lovely restaurants nothing quite like popping back to your vally at the end of a day tho great stay we shall defiantly be back soon x

When we arrived Ken and Sue gave us a warm welcome and introduced us to the place. We were absolutely happy about the “starter pack “of food, which helped us a lot since the next market is a couple of km away. We enjoyed the fresh bread which Sue baked and we became regular consumers of their vegetables, bread, yoghurt, honey and yam, since they produce it all by themselves and offer it to a very fair price. The place is green and quiet, with a nice view on the eucalyptus hills. In the mornings the sun greets you on the terrace which made breakfast outside very attractive. The house offers everything you need, it is very clean and the kitchen is well equipped. The pool was great, especially the kids spent hours in it, since it was around 30C° warm. There were water toys for the pool which one can grab and other playthings which could be used in the garden. It is a perfect place if you like a quite, green place in the countryside with a good starting point for excursions to the sea (Aveiro), Porto and the surrounding area and its rivers and forests. We really had a fantastic week here and Ken and Sue were wonderful caring hosts which made this week extra memorable!

We had a wonderfull week in casa sulo. Ken and Sue are very friendly and we enjoyed their hospitality. The weather was great. The swimming pool was excellent en the house is fully equiped. We loved to sit on the terrace, swimming in the pool, playing jeu de boules, admiring the view and watching the stars at night.
Many thanks to Ken and Sue.

This was our third stay at Casa Sulo and it never disappoints !
The location is beautiful and the hospitality unbeatable. Hard though it may be to drag yourself away from the pool and mountain views, Casa Sulo makes a great base for exploring the "real" Portugal and it's culture. Everything you could want is close at hand: fabulous beaches, mountain drives, the wonderful city of Porto, museums, galleries, vineyards and the food and wine is not only delicious but great value for money !

I say "perfect". It certainly was for us. We were looking for peace and tranquillity, and we found it. This is not a place to stay if you're looking for nightclubs, beach bars or supermarkets on your doorstep. In fact, the doorstep is in a village on the top of a mountain. You need to drive down the mountain to find a shop. But that means that if you want a quiet time on the patio or in the pool, you can have it without interruption. One of our favourite aspects of this holiday was being able to relax in the pool surrounded by amazing views of the surrounding mountains and countryside - and barely any background noise. The accommodation itself is comfortable, with enough room for most sizes of party - the adjoining chalet can be opened up to form one large one. I have experienced it in both formats. There are some excellent walks on the mountain, if you don't want to stray far, but if you want to explore the area there are a range of different activities including the beach on the Costa Nova - certainly amongst the best I've experienced - and Aveiro, a nearby town which is well worth a visit. Ken and Sue are very welcoming and helpful. They encourage you to sample the fruits (and veg) of their own garden, and if you don't want to go to the trouble of going out for a meal or making one yourself, even provide a "take away" service - which we have taken advantage of and thoroughly enjoyed. I have stayed here three times now, and look forward to visiting again.
