It's a beautiful place, and a great experience, enjoying the hot sea water!
In the nearby spa you can have a relaxing massage, and the restaurant is also very good.

Awesome site. Lots of black lava rocks strewn about so it looks like the moonscape! The main attraction is the thermal hot springs in a cove in the Atlantic. We were there at high tide, so there were incredible waves. It is possible only to enter the water at low tide, so we missed swimming. There are changing rooms but they weren't open in April. Spent hours there and took lots of pictures of the crashing waves. Had lunch at the restaurant/spa which was only ok food.

Great vistas of the Azorean coast accompanied by the smell of the sea and spring sun. Gives one a real feel of what the islands are all about. Reminded me of the Cliffs of Moher.

Ponta da Ferraria is another of the beautiful landscapes of San Miguel Island with scenic vistas and a fishing port. The main attraction for us this visit was the geothermal heated ocean cove. During early March the main bath house and swimming pool complex is closed, and the weather being cloudy and chilly we almost decided against taking the plunge. However on walking down a path about 5 minutes and reaching the cove we saw the (typically) nice changing rooms provided for visitors and realized we wouldn't be too cold for too long. There is a U-shaped volcanic rock cove which under the right conditions (low tide, little ocean surge) is heated to a very warm temperature. A ladder down and some ropes below provide safety. This day the ocean was surging in so the water was just barely discernibly warmer at the heat source. Combined with the surge and the shallow rocks, I was happy to just get in and get out after the experience. I would definitely to it again and hope for better conditions.
I must add that the road up and down to this cove is one of the steepest of the many steep roads I drove on San Miguel with accompanying horse-shoe turns.

This place seems so unlikely … wild coast, harsh lava rocks, crashing waves, and then a sheltered cove where the ocean water is heated to 102°F or more. Go at low tide for the maximum effect and hottest water. For us this was 9am. We drove from Ponta Delgada (about 30 minutes), and when we arrived there were only a couple of people there. It was hard to believe the ocean water could be that hot. Go all the way to the inland end of the cove and the water is almost too hot to bear, then swim out to the opening to the open sea where it's just warm. What a great spot. There are restrooms nearby, and also a restaurant which we didn't try. After leaving here we drove north to the cool town of Mosteiros and its nice beach, then along the incredibly scenic coast with many awesome miradouros, up the back side of Sete Cidades for a view down on Lagoa Azul, then back to the coast and further east where we had a nice lunch at 4Platanos and up to Lago do Canario, Vista del Reye and the village of Sete Cidades. It was a beautiful day with a lot of photo opportunities.
