We stayed at this Hotel May 22-29 2012. It was clean and adequate with a view from the balcony overlooking the pier. This Hotel is rated 4 star but by American standard I would give it a 3 and in some areas less. It offers no Ice machine and no ice with water or beverages unless you ask. The televisions were small and antique and the picture not great quality although they had wonderful speakers in the Bathroom of all places! Bring a Converter since the whole hotel is 220Amps.Has a hair dryer but No coffee pot in the room....although there is room service in AM with coffee and rolls or you can have a breakfast if you want in the dinning room. The breakfast is just OK and consist of NO WOW factor. Coffee except for the cappucino is like mud and this is consistant throught out the area.Since it is rated one of the better Hotels I was left wondering what the others offered.

Room Tip: The rooms on the pier side are of nice view but have only twin beds and it is a bit noisy with traffic

Hotel Marina Atlantico is a good option when travelling to Azores, and staying in Ponta Delgada. I've stayed there twice, and if the first time has been great with a room with sea view, second time I've stayed in a room located in the other side, and I thougth I was in the wrong hotel: small room (beds had the length of the room, furniture was old, definitly not a 4* offer). So, if you want to stay there, ask for a sea front room: it is not only the view, it is the room as a whole. Service is competent, and you are at a walking distance from main attractions in Ponta Delgada.

The location can't be beat. It overlooks the harbor and is on the main promenade along the water. The staff was friendly and helpful. They recommended a good local restaurant and called for reservations. We had drinks in the bar and the price was reasonable for a hotel bar. The room was very clean and quiet. I was traveling on business so I had my own room and was booked as a single. The room had 3 singles (with 2 pushed together). Although family rooms are great they are "crowded" when one is solo. The buffet breakfast was good- wonderful local bread and regional cheese was available.

We arrived at the Hotel Marina Atlantico at 7 am to find our room ready! So great to be able to take a nap before beginning our exploration of the Azores. The room, view, staff, food were grea! We had some trepidation about this trip arranged by Azores.com, but this was a harbinger of great things to come.
We returned to this hotel before leaving and we were so happy with everything. The Prosecco at breakfast helped allay some of our sorrow at having to leave this beautiful island.

Room Tip: Water view of course! (but I think all rooms are water view)

There seems to be a dramatic fall off in tourists to this wonderful set of volcanic islands and it all feels a bit run down. The Marina Atlantico is next a another would be harbour front hotel that has been abandend half way through construction.
The inland scenery is breathtaking, including the bubbling volcanic outlets (where the locals cook a delicious 6 hour slow cook stew in a hole in the ground).
Amazing formal gardens at Ribeira Grande...infact a hoticultural delight, with Hydrangers and Azaeleas used as roadside hedging!
