Visited Jardim Gardens while in San Miguel, a friend back in the states did a search in the area for me and said I need to visit during my stay. From the moment I stepped on the grounds I amazed how green and lush it was. There were beautiful trees, paths, stairs and caves to explore. Unfortunately, it rained during my visit otherwise I would've stayed much longer. If in the area, make sure to visit and there is no charge.

Compact garden with lots of small paths and areas to explore and sit. A great tree in the centre with all the roots exposed makes a great photo opportunity.

A small cafe and children's playground are available.

Only criticism is you can only enter from the south entrance as the north entrance is locked for some unknown reason. If you want to simply walk through you can't!

On the north side of city centre of Ponta Delgado is a hidden jewel next to one of the big free carpark and the youth hostel. It is a public park that is also a arboretum. It is a former 19th century private garden with grottoes, bridges, hidden valleys and lots of beautiful trees. The follies in the park make it a very special place. It has a small pavillion that sells drinks and lunch snacks very cheap. So if you like old quirky gardens, this is the place to go.

I was not expecting to see such a beautiful and well taken care of garden. It is really worth seeing. The Australian fig tree is both huge and beatifull
