“Tasty Local Cuisine”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

Our first taste of Azorean cooking was a hit. Fresh fish and meat dishes. Friendly service albeit a tad slow - but it was a completely packed Saturday night. Neighborhood joint and we were amongst locals. Two of us had steak and one had fresh barracuda fish. Nice cold black eyed pea salad with the fish. Great roasted garlic with the meat. Not much for a vegetarian. Desserts were not made in house.

“Nice local place with fresh fish and good value”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

Adega Regional was one of the many fine restaurants we sampled in Ponta Delgada. In contrast to some of the others, the food was simple and traditional and it was less formal in setting. Service was very good. Salt cod served with roasted potatoes was nicely flavored with garlic and seasoned but maybe not as tender as in other restaurants. Fried fish with boiled potatoes was very nice. A half-liter of house red wine was also enjoyed and the total tab was very reasonable at $39.

“Tradition Kept Alive”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

My wife and I spend our winters in Ponta Delgada and of all the restaurants that serve traditional Azorean dishes, this is the one we eat in most often. Of course part of the reason is because we now know the owner Amadeo, a little guy with incredible energy who walks around the tables and always greets the customers he knows with a warm smile and a ‘bom dia’ (which is most of them!). But the other reasons are simple. The dishes are consistently fresh and well prepared. Amadeo visits the local market daily for his fish and meat. The atmosphere is cozy and the service efficient. And finally, the prices are reasonable. This place is usually packed for lunch with lots of locals. It’s less packed in the evening. Bring your I-Pad to e-mail your friends about the place. There is free Wi-Fi.

“Nice surprise”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

Visited PD whilst on a cruise ship stop. We bumped into another couple who had just had lunch suggested we try it as the food was good, having directed us to the restaurant we decided to lunch there too. We do not normally eat whilst ashore as the cruise lines feed you very well!!! We were the only English in the Adega but we felt comfortable with the friendly and efficient service, the food was very good, especially the fresh swordfish and salad and washed down with the local draft beer. A nice surprise and well worth a try if you are visiting PD. Just have a light breakfast as the portions are large!!...recommended. Jan 2014 Ps nice mild dry day too!

“GREAT FIND”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

This a great place, very traditional. They also do half portions, which is good as the Portuguese serve hearty plates. My husband had the liver with mashed potatoes and gravy which he said was excellent. I had a T bone steak which was huge, but a good taste. The waiter was very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend, wide choice of menu, good prices too.
