“Great trip”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

We went on the zodiak, where it was much more intimate and the dolphines were close. The only down side was the trip home was super rough and I was sore the next day. We saw tons of dolphins... they were awesome! The whales were a fair bit off, but they work hard on getting you there. It is really luck on how close you get. Worth doing! and great view of the island also!

“Short on time”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

Well equipped catamaran and knowledgeable staff. Saw many whales and dolphins. Downside was that we returned to shore quickly as we had seen them nearer the shore than normal. The trip was advertised as being 2.5 - 3 hours but was about 2 hours. It would have been sooner, but they pottered along the coast on a sightseeing tour to make the time up. A bit of a con in that respect. We could have styed out longer I feel.

“Not recommended”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

This compagny confirmed us the tour at twelve and decided to cancel it one hour after the meeting time in the Harbor. So we went to the place with a taxi (paid 10 euros) to be on time (1 PM), canceled everything we planned before and been waiting for 2 german people who never arrived.
So at 2 PM we have been told that the tour was canceled because they where not enough people on the present tour... Now waiting for refund on our credit cars.
Never again !

“Well-organised, well-equipped and good staff”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

We went out twice - once on the RIB and once on the catamaran. The RIB trip was interesting and you were much closer to the dolphins but there were times when you were so low in the water that the whale was hidden behind the waves. From higher up on the catamaran, you could see further and more clearly. If you are in the Azores, it would seem absurd not to try to see one of the great natural wonders of the world - the largest animal on Earth - and this company seemed to be a very good way of doing it. Given the opportunity, we would have gone out again and again.

“Very professional with a sensible and sensitive attitude to the whales.”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

Booked directly at the office on the marina-option is for either a Zodiac (Reinforced inflatable boat-seats about 12 people) or a larger catamaran. The Zodiac is only suitable for people who are comfortable on a small boat bouncing at 30 knots across the open Atlantic- if this isn't for you then go for the larger and more sedate catamaran (but to be honest I think you are more likely to get seasick on the latter). We opted for the former and weren't disappointed. We took 2 three hour trips on consecutive days and saw Blue and Fin Whales, common and Bottlenose dolphins. The knowledgeable (and, ahem... rather attractive) staff are very good at making sure the whales aren't disturbed-the boats stand off a good distance and don't hang around too long when they are feeding so as not to stress the whales. All boats go out with a qualified marine biologist who knows what they are talking about. Probably not the cheapest on offer in the Azores at €55 per adult and €28 per child for a three hour trip, but absolutely worth it to know that its being done professionally and sensitively. You also get a 10% discount on your second trip.
