In addition to great views of the island, the hunt for whales was excellent. The company has various lookout points that insure some whales are frolicking before you leave the island. The zodiac boats were a bit jarring and uncomfortable like riding a horse across the ocean, but great vantage point to see the whales.
It was exciting, Miranda (our marine biologist) and Matt (our back up) were very knowledgeable and gave us background information on the whales we were seeing.
We thought it was one kind of whale when we started, then realized it was the first Blue Whale of the migratory season! What luck?!
So big, so majestic, such a strong blow of water, such large 'footprints so we could chase them across the water. We were a fair way out from land, but I think the excitement of our expert team and my fellow whale watchers was contagious.
On another note, Futurismo the tour and guided land side, has an amazing, simply amazing tour guide for the islands named Irene. She was super knowledgeable about the topography, natural features, politics, history, crops, cows, tea, local delicacies, etc. I have never had a guide that was fluent in everything including island folklore and funny. 'Arozean Science' is my favorite.
