“Furnas visit”

Interesting to see the hot vents, but that was about all there was to see. Very hard to find the "bathing pool" and when we did, it was a disappointment.

“Try the thermal baths here”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Furnas's fame lies in it's hot springs and rightly so. it was not too busy in May and although mostly one way streets to avoid traffic clogging it up we found it easy to navigate. The are the caldeira's at the lake, where the local restaurants cook stews in concrete pipes covered with soil. there are the older caldeira's on the eastern side of town that the locals seem to go to fill up their water bottles from. The are generally bubbling pools and steaming fissures. then there are two thermal pools. One tucked away down some side streets and for two euro's you get entrance, access to the decent changing facilities and entry to two pools. These are about bath temperature and very relaxing. You can buy canned drinks and sweets here but there is a very good café/bar/restaurant next door. Towel rental also 2 euros, you may want to splash this cash as the water does stain lighy coloured material
The other place to bath is in the Terra Nostre Park. This is a wonderful colonial park, house and gardens with a huge thermal pool. Very peaceful in the park and an ideal spot for a picnic.

“Great town, lovely lake and hot thermal bath”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

We walked around the lake, then enjoyed a dip in the thermal pool at the Terra Nostra park, a bargain at €5. The botanical gardens were also very pretty. Don't wear your best swimming costume for the pool though as the water is naturally high in iron and coloured accordingly so if you're costume is white, it won't be by the time you get out!!!

“interesting”

This is an interesting small town/big village with hot calderas for swimming. The terra nostra park was very peaceful and beautiful. You can swim in a natural heated pool and there are changing rooms available. It would be useful to take sandals to walk from the changing room to the pool
