We were a large group of 14 visiting Sao Miguel for the first time. I had read about this restaurant on trip advisor and had it on my "go to" list. While visiting Lagoa we had the pleasure of dining here. This restaurant is the "total package" great food, wonderful staff and great service.
14 out of 14 were thrilled with their meal. It made for a very pleasant evening. Try grandmothers sweet for dessert- delicious! Try anything - just get there!!! This is a "don't miss".

Wonderful restaurant. Nice people and good prices! A fantastic "arroz de tamboril". One of the best restaurants in Sao Miguel.

An excellent place to try in Lagoa. We tried the local fresh cheese with olives and a spicy local sauce. Then, we had meat and cod fish, served with local potatoes, onions and home made sauce. All served with the extremely good white wine from Pico Island. The crew at the restaurant is really welcoming, warm and nice, and prices are absolutely affordable. Really the place to try in the island.

Many restaurantes out of season on Sao Miguel, seemed to only serve food after 7pm. However, we stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant quite by accident on evening when we had almost given up trying to find somewhere, and were glad to have done so as we found the best fresh fish dishes that we were to encounter all week!

To add to this, the table service was both timely and done with such friendliness, which made the evening a truly wonderful experience. The bill was also most reasonable, and definitely great value for money.

I highly recommend the seafood platter!

What a great surprise! This restaurant is outside Ponta Delgada, in the village of Lagoa and we tried it for dinner one night. The setting isn't one you'd expect to leave you very impressed but everything else makes up for it! We would have literally been the only diners that night, if it wasn't for a group of local people watching football on TV and having beers and snacks. The first striking positive was the warm welcome and service received from the owners - they were genuinely determined to make our experience there a very good one. The second was the diversity and sophistication of the menu, which was indeed unexpected for the setting. The third was the quality of the food - absolutely excellent on all accounts. From the starters, to the mains (my wife tried the catch of the day, which was really fresh, and I had beef, which was very nicely cooked), and desert - exquisitely created and superbly tasty! If you find yourselves in Sao Miguel and fancy some quality time, excellent food and genuinely great service, then make sure to try the Traineira.
