Very nice litle hotel, cosy with marvellous view from the balcony, quiet and very confortable. Breakfast all home made, different every day and always delicious. Jack cooked for us and it was fantastic, the dinners were fabulous.

We really loved the place. Really nice, calm and charming, nice owners and delicious food.
Our stay in Pico was actually very boring so that was the best of the stay - a nice hotel. Moreover, noone in the island (and two more islands) we found any restaurant that we liked (if you go to Azores do not expect culinary adventure!) so Jack's dinner was the exception - best food we had during our stay.
If you really want to go to Azores and get bored for a week, at least put yourself in a nice hotel. That one.

An easy and fabulous journey by ferry and bus from Faial, brings you to this beautiful spot overlooking the ocean. With spectacular views, surrounded by vineyards and gardens you feel very at peace. It is an inspirational setting to get back to nature and relax. The gardens are bursting with fresh produce and flowers. The rooms are fun, stylish, clean and spacious. The friendly hosts have an eye for colour and design and have created a magical place to stay. Breakfast is produced overlooking the ocean and consists of a selection of homemade delights. The dinners are really special and substancial, made with the finest ingredients from the garden , with local meat , fish, cheese and all beautifully put together. A brilliant place to explore Pico and relax in a magical heaven.

This small hotel has only five rooms, four of them with a view to the see. The panaroma is very pleasing: you look at the atlantic and to the opposit island Sao Jorge. We’ve stayed there for over ten days and found the following the pros and cons:

Pros:
* Every room has its own shower and toilet (toilet paper has to be put into a bin)
* Everything is clean and well maintained
* The view over the sea is beautiful
* The dinner (served every second day for 27 Euro, drinks not included) is probably the best thing you can get on the island – if you are not a vegetarian
* best müesli (cereal breakfast) on the planet
* There is no disco, airport, motorway or other noisy thing around

Cons:
* You don’t have much privacy here (there is only one table for breakfast and dinner; four of the rooms with the seaview share a veranda: if your room is near the stairs, people need to pass your room and may look inside; you hear your neighbours trough doors and walls).
* The prices for rooms and dinner are high (approx. 130 Dollar/double room & breakfast).
* The breakfast may get boring after the third day: coffee or tea (milk only „allowed“ in the morning), yet best müesli (swiss kind of cereals with fruit and figs), toast, butter and jams (bread and jams are homemade). There is no cheese, ham or eggs for breakfast.

The hotel is best suited for young, flexible couples (without little children), who like to discover the island by walking or by car.

If like to go swimming every day, look out for another place to stay which is nearer to the sea, but remember that there are no sandy beaches at all on Pico. Instead there are quite a few natural pools surrounded by big lava stones that allow for some fresh sea water to swap in with every wave at high tide. The water is crystal clear and not too cold (thanks to the sun, lava stones and gulf stream). Approx. 18°C in August. These pools are more often than not equipped with a shower, toilet, changing cabin, concrete surface for sunbathing and some concrete steps or a ladder to get in and out of the water. (Prainha, Calheta de Nesquiem, Santa Cruz).

If you are interested in Whale-Watching you’ll find three or four companies who offer tours. Not following the recommondation of the hotel owners we have choosen Talasso for Whale Watching – it was a good choice because the guys of Talasso try not to disturb the whales and dolphins too much. Keep in mind that whale watching is not an animal friendly behaviour.

The hotel owners speak English, French, German, and Portugese … at least!
