A super little cottage, ideal for a couple or even a couple with one child. Very well presented, clean and tidy. Fred, the owner, met us in Horta an took us to the cottage and gave us a warm welcome.
The location, virtually on the beach, is supported by two excellent restaurants and two bars (one of which is vey 'local' and worth a visit). The people in the village are super friendly, in particular the next door neighbours to the cottage, who are locals and love to chat if you can manage a little Portuguese. Even if you don't, expect smiles.
There s a shop not too far away, although we shopped in Horta, which is only 5-10 minutes drive away.
Great swimming is available just 200m away, with the beautiful black sand beach.
The cottage itself consists of a small open plan lounge and kitchen, the settee converting into a bed, along with a double bed room and a shower/ loo. A washing machine is provided - very handy for those travelling light. The patio at the back, up the steps, is lovely as a sun trap, although offers no views. Fridge freezer is provided, along with halogen hob and oven.
In conclusion, a very nice place to make your base on Faial. Enjoy.

The fisherman's cottage is nice and confortable. Fred and his wife were very kind with us and made everything to allow us a pleasant stay. Playa the Almoxarife is a nice and quiet beach with a superb view of Pico island. It is only five minutes drive to Horta. We are glad we spent five days in the beatiful Faial island and we appreciated Fred's hospitality.
