“Look for the "signatures" of the sailors who visited”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

Nice marina, almost compulsory stop for sailors crossing the north Atlantic. Look for the tags/paintings left by the sailing boats, all over the marina.

“Attractive marina, lots to do”
Reviewed August 19, 2013

Strangely, this busy attractive marina is also one of the most beautiful and calm places we have been. There are lots of painting to see and many trips to take (either the ferry to other islands, or whale watching, swimming with dolphins, diving , and a glass bottom boat).

If you visit, go say hi to Pedro at HortaCetaceos and ask him about the Panda dolphins.....

“Unique atmosphere”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

If in Horta, you can't avoid visiting the marina. All those sailing yachts from all over the world. And the paintings on the quay walls from the people who sailed to Horta - either coming from the carib making a stop-over before they continue their voyage to "somewhere else" or from Europe, sailing to the Carib... Breathtaking!

“Very interesting”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

Somewhere along the way, sailors who are crossing the Atlantic, and stopping in Faial started painting sections of the wall along this marina. Walking all around and seeing the different paintings, where the boats were from, etc. is truly entertaining, even if you are not a sailor. A nice way to while away some time before or after having an espresso at one of the cafe's, a drink at Peter's, etc.
