Peter Cafe & Scrimshaw Museum

Cafe Peter is one of those places that you have to visit, when you come to Faial!
It's decorated with yacht flags and ensigns!
The food is very good, and they have "the best" gin and tonic of the world!

Cool place in the middle of Horta. Surprisingly good fish- Blue rock fish. A lot of sailors passing by in the way to cross the Atlantic.

Bar has plenty of character, decorated by yacht ensigns. Food was very good. Unfortunately we managed to get into the museum on our 4th attempt (no staff had been available) and the woman who opened it for us spoke virtually no English. However, it was worth the visit (and 2 Euros each).

The museum costs next to nothing and contains a fabulous collection of items. Be sure to accept the offer of a "tour", the guide John gave us a very good talk on the background to the collection and the man responsible for it. The museum is one small room, many artifacts, great story
