Azoris Faial Garden Resort Hotel

2008 & 2009 This is an excellent hotel, very comfortable. We did only stay bed and breakfast and occassionally ate in the hotel but found it quite expensive but convenient if you don't want to head down into the town.
Swimming Pool was lovely nice viewpoints.
The first 2 stays we overlooked pico in a lovely room and the 3rd time we stayed in one of the other buildings. Nice room couldn't fault it but missed the views.
Indoor swimming pool was small but ok for a dip and jacuzi was refreshing

Room Tip: Ask for one in the main building centrally overlooking pico, we stayed in this room twice.

Our 4-day stay at the Fayal Hotel was enjoyable. We had a nice quiet room with a huge terrace overlooking the harbour and the whole bay as well as Pico Islands. Very attentive service, delicious breakfast buffet. The Fayal Hotel is located close to the ferry and bus terminal as well as within walking distance of a a big supermarket.

Room Tip: Alll rooms have views.

It is not worthy a four star hotel. The location is good and the amenities are also nice (pool outside and inside). But the food in the restaurant is average, the pool bar is closed or without anyone to attend your order, and the rooms definetly need a make-over... We had a bug on the room and noone seemed to be able to help us. the first room had a wall and a hill immediately in front of the window. it was impossible to see anything... the rooms with sea-view are 20€ more expensive, but probably they are worth it...

Room Tip: do not choose a room on the second floor, as you will surely face a wall from your balcony...

We stayed for four nights in September and found this a very comfortable and friendly hotel. It's excellently situated for the city and harbour areas. it's also worth going out through the road exit, going slightly uphill then turning right if you want to get to the eastern end of town.
If you want a view of Pico it's from an executive room overlooking the pool, which is exposed to the sun all day.
Our executive room (upgraded) was roomy and well equipped. It looked east onto the interior and was light and airy. The staff were truly friendly and helpful in reception and around other areas.
Breakfast was varied. The fruit selection was excellent, there was the usual selection of cold meats and (many) cheeses, cereals, and you can boil your own eggs but the many breads were poor when you saw what was available elsewhere.
It was a better hotel than its sister hotel, the Angra Garden on Terceira.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in August/September 2011. Beautiful hotel, centrally located, and a very gracious staff. The pools are wonderful. An easy walk to the port of Horta.

The hotel is huge and it has a magnificent view. From the balcony we can see the Pico Island, the harbour and the pool. The service at reception and at the restaurant should improve a lot. We were supposed to have a room with this great view and also with air con. The problem was that the AC was broken and the only option was to move in to a room with no landscape. We kept the same room but we were very disapointed with the feedback at reception. People should be kind and nice, but instead, they were very cold and distant. They aren't charming for the customer... Not a good price/quality hotel...This should not be a 4 star hotel!

Room Tip: The best rooms have a great landscape for Pico island, harbour and the pool

Nothing wrong with the hotel itself: nice location with great views and a short walk from the center of Horta. Service at the restaurant is fine and so was the breakfast. The rooms are spacious and if you are lucky you get a room with a stunning view towards Pico. But, if expect to feel welcome or get friendly service at the reception, this is definitely not the place to stay. The receptionists clearly don't have a clue how it should be in a four-star hotel. Really a pity because the hotel has got potential to be better than that.
